Star Trek: Crew

Anyone reading IDW's Star Trek: Crew, the John Byrne series about the adventures of the young Number One from "The Cage"?

I just finished reading the third issue. I don't want to give anything away, but there was a definite Martian Chronicles vibe to it that I liked.

Someone coming to Star Trek fresh out of the movie would probably enjoy this series.

I love this series. I like how every issue feels like an episode of a series we never got to watch.

I'm looking forward to next issue's return to the Enterprise.

Haven't started it yet. I've been working through a backlog of Trek comics that have been piling up for a couple years.

Is each issue self-contained?

I am really enjoying this series. John Byrne is giving us some Trek stories that I have always wanted to see (Gary Seven, Number One). I especially like how he cleverly dodges the issue of giving her a name.

I like that, too.

I've only read through issue 2, but I expect I'll pick up #3 at some point. It would be nice to see a follow-up or continuation with either Pike or Boyce, too.

The next two issues take place aboard the Enterprise so it's quite possible to see one or both of those two.

I'm totally diggin' it. Then again, all of Byrne's Trek projects to date have had me at "Hello."

Agreed. IDW is really putting out some great stuff, and I've always liked Byrne's artwork even if he has some (cough) controversial opinions. I'm not paying to see that, I'm paying to see his stories.:vulcan:
