This little film just popped up on my Youtube feed and I didn't see a thread for it....Short, with what looks like really nice FX....I'll have a closer look at it later tonight

Great FX... I mean top notch, Hollywood quality stuff. It just needs an actual story.

Well this one was not on my radar. As an artistic piece this is great.

Thanks to Bixby for posting this.

    Synopsis:
"This story takes place in an alternate timeline and is meant to highlight Starfleet's passion for space exploration. Captain Benjamin Storm has been given a remarkable assignment: to take the Albatross on its first long distance interstellar road trip, utilizing it's newly refitted experimental warp drive."

Nice little sizzle reel -- hopefully they can come up with a script, costumes, sets, and performances to match the slick visuals. Even though it ends with one of my huge pet peeves -- water spots on the objective "lens." I despise this affection, pulls me out of the story every time... not that there was any "story" here, but y'know...

The only part that took me out of it was the "1.2 trillion light years into the sky". The Andromeda Galaxy is "only" 2.5 million light years away. If a starship could travel at one-million times light speed, or two light-years per minute, it would take over a million years to go 1.2 trillion light years.

So it's a really, really, really good warp drive.

In the sequel, Captain Storm and his crew of recently transformed space salamanders attempt to return home.

My old models look pretty good done up in chrome! I've been talking with Albert, that does the effects on this, and hopefully some more of my models will show up in future videos. :D

Here is a short video from the makers of Chasing The Infinite Sky:

I can't believe how good this is. I wonder if they would be willing to collaborate with other fan film producers?

Their work is stunning, I would love to see a full length take on Chasing the Infinite Sky with an exploration story.
