Star Trek Cerulean: A Teaser

Captain Clark Terrell

Commodore
Commodore
Author's note: For those of you've met Commander Snow before, this a brief teaser from a story I'm currently working on. Others may wish to familiarize themselves with the commander's previous experiences, which may be found here, here and here.

Despite the calamitous cacophony occurring in her immediate vicinity—namely, less than twenty feet away from her—Lt. Commander Karen Snow had little difficulty focusing on the main viewer, as she found that the more she fixated on the events happening in front of her, the less her eyes tended wander in the direction of the small but dangerous blaze that had reduced one of the bridge’s auxiliary engineering stations—not to the mention the gold-shirted ensign occupying it—to ashes. Rising from the command chair, a station she occupied due her captain’s and first officer’s absences, Snow strode to the railing separating the bridge’s lower bowl from the raised platform encircling it and faced the individual who currently occupied her station on the command center’s starboard side. “Anything, Sub-commander?” she asked.

The Romulan exchange officer and—for the moment—acting science officer shook his head. “Nothing definitive, sir. Our sensors can approximate the vessel’s position, but they can’t pinpoint it. I’m afraid we’re out of luck until they decide to show themselves again.”

The commander—captain, she reminded herself—frowned. “Any chance we can home in on their impulse wake, Sran?”

Her friend’s reply was abruptly silenced by the impact detonation of another torpedo. Feeling the deck rumble beneath her, Snow glanced over her right shoulder toward the tactical station and the Cerulean’s chief of security, Lieutenant Carrie Brinkman. The younger woman anticipated her question. “We’ve hull breaches on decks five and seven. Emergency force-fields are in place and holding, and damage-control teams are en route to both locations.”

“Casualties?”

Brinkman offered Snow a pained smile. “None so far. However… the gym is on fire.”

Only years of Starfleet training and a near-lifetime devotion to Christianity kept Snow from uttering the phrase her brain insisted on repeating: “Damn, fuck, shit, piss!”

Coming soon!

I'm curious. How can you have Captain Terrell if he died from suicide induced by the Ceti eel in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I haven't read your previous works if you've already explained your process. However, so far, you seem to be doing well with this. I would enjoy seeing more of Snow, S'ran, and Brinkman, please.

Captain Terrell doesn't actually appear in this story, though he's someone Snow is familiar with, which is why she mentioned him previously.

Will Captain Streep and Commander Hathaway return to the starship Cerulean in the nick of time? Stay tuned.

I've been hoping to read more about Snow after those short stories/interviews.

Looking forward to this one.

@Captain Clark Terrell, reflecting back on my comments here, I feel I was being a bit flippant and insensitive regarding your work. I apologize for not being more considerate. At the time, I did not consider how my comments might make you feel.
