I recently acquired the relatively rare Japanese DVD version of the original PC/Mac game "Star Trek: Borg" This video makes a simple comparison of these two and you can see the first 4:30 minutes In this video I upscaled the DVD to HD and also color-corrected it (the JPN DVD seems to miss the original color grading) Welcome feedback and enjoy
I up'ed it on Archive.org for preservation: https://archive.org/details/star-trek-borg-pibf-7075.7z_202105
Yes, taken from the CD-ROM version. The one OP has posted is from the DVD, which is in much better quality. Edit: If only the Klingon Academy filmed scenes had a DVD version too! Damn.
Not that I know of. I do recall seeing a Japanese release for the iPhone/Apple store a few years back but I can't seem to find anything on it now. Maybe whoever made it went out of business or their license expired or something. There was also a DVD-ROM version of Starfleet Academy which is quite rare, I don't think it ever got released in Europe. I wonder if the quality of that is any better than the more widely available CD-ROM version, which if the version used by GOG.com and Steam.
I’m currently upscaling all the scenes from the DVD. I would wonder what ppls feeling would be to turn that into an episode ? Initially I was thinking not to include all the ‘bad’ decisions you can take, to make the flow of the episode smoother. But some of the wrong paths are pretty funny. Any opinions ?
Strike a balance. I've seen the whole array of end scenes and some are definitely better than others.
The summery on Amazon states the DVD-ROM version of Starfleet Academy had a particularly crisp video, suggesting it might be better: https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Starfleet-Academy-DVD-ROM-PC/dp/B00001SHN4
I I might cut a 45min version together and put all the rest into ‘outtakes’ after the end credit roll.
