Star Trek: Aurora update/new website

Somehow I doubt that age is accurate. He'd only have been two or three when the original series finished, and he claims to be a fan from when it originally aired. ;)

So Tim, anything else happening with Aurora at the moment? :D

You blew my cover..I am really 52, and fast approaching 53. Thanks alot!!! Now all the hot chics on this site will think I'm some old fogie! Party pooper!

I consider my self across between Col. Hank Morton from my Frank Grayson story and Brad Pitt since i look so much like him...well..to me at least!

Rob

Being 53 ain't so bad as long as everything is working. I just turned 53 last week. Admittedly, my knees are bad, and getting worse, but at least I am alive and breathing.

All the best in your retirement.

Cheers.

Thanks, all! I'm working on Part 3 now, and if I can just get my new hardware put together, I should be able to get these next two parts out faster.

Thanks again--Tim

I was really impressed with the dialog. And I was unaware that CGI was that good for common folks like us. I could never do it, I wish i could, but believe when I say that I am totally amazed by your work...

And once again, the dialog in episode between the two of them was right on!!! You are not only a computer whiz, but a good writer too...I look forward to seeing what you with this..I intend to watch the rest of it tonight after American Idol..yeah..I admit it...I watch American Idol..GO DAVID COOK!!!

Rob
I have to disagree, computer animation is tough but is learnable. You can download Daz3d for free and get free or really cheap content and start from there. There are many tutorials online and tons of books. It never hurts to try, especially when its free. There is one thing I do agree with, go David Cook.

I would, but I just don't think I could find the time to do it. Someday I may look into paying someone to do it who really knew what they were doing instead of me bumping around in the dark.

I have to agree with Tom Hendricks: While what Tim does could not be considered EASY by any stretch of the imagination, it doesn't have to be as hard as what Pixar's artists do, either.

Daz3D/Poser figures are pre-created by someone else; all you have to do is modify the features and body a bit to make them look like almost entirely different people. Different skin colors and hair styles do miracles for making them look different as well. Clothing and props are readily available in a lot of different places; many of them free.

I'm not in Tim's league and probably never will be, but I'm already doing a lot better than when I started.

Thalek, just remember that Tim had a starting point in his animation career. You have started and that is a good thing. Hopefully one day you will allow us to see what you have done with your skills.

All the best.

Just a quick note to say that I finally got around to updating the Star Trek: Aurora website with a new look and some new features that I'd gotten requests for, like downloadable desktop wallpapers and a section describing the production workflow, as well as some expanded notes about the inspiration for Aurora and a page of various reviews.

If you haven't been to the website in a while, check it out! If you haven't been there at all, check out the movie that "Scotty" from Phase II (New Voyages) called "freaking awesome." ;-)

Tim, I just want to say, again, that I think you are doing great. The dream sequence was well done and I like the fact you are really doing a great job not only with the animation, BUT, with trying to make these two women three dimensional. Very good!! I think we will be seeing your name in lights someday!!

Just watched the first two parts and I must say, that's an incredible work! Especially the voice work is very well done (I can imagine that's the detail on which an animated production stands or falls). I'm looking forward to the pay-offs. :bolian:

Did I get that right; Kara has eaten her family? :wtf:

Yep, your spoiler is accurate. Poor lass, to be forced to such extremities in the name of survival.

Yeah..that threw me too...but hey, it will make for interesting story down the line...
