Star Trek 6: Remastered : what needs to be done ?

English is a fickle thing. As a living language - and one of the most largely spoken of such languages, just about anyone can change it.

It IS a living language. But should we stand by and watch people who are obviously either lazy or simple minded to change it down to their level? Should we surrender to those who don't give a fuck?

English is not my native language, but here in Germany we have some serious problems with our language. And I'm not even talking about English slowly taking over, I'm talking about people using the wrong words, people not knowing their grammar, or people who obviously don't care about how to spell even the most simple word.

I really can understand why undereducated people are doing this, and I feel for them. But the truth is that most people are doing it out of ignorance and laziness, and that is disgusting the hell out of me!

Let's not forget that big state-mandated re-spelling. ;)

The Romance langauges started because people became lazy at Latin, fouled up their grammar, and started mispronouncing things all over the place. Hence French, Italian, Spanish.

These things happen. I don't fight them, but I don't adapt to them either - and if that means I'm still writing a now antique form of English on my deathbed, so much the better.
