Bryan Cranston as the villain could be very very cool indeed. But I want McCoy's wife to BE the President of the Federation, to put an awesome spin on "the ex-wife took the whole damn planet in the divorce"!

Sounds promising, at least potentially. If the rumors are true, of course. Bringing McCoy's ex-wife into the film, delving into his family life for the first time (aside from the bit about his father's death in TFF), would add something new to the universe, and could be interesting if done well.

As for Shatner and Nimoy, they've done their part. Let them rest. I agree with the article writer that what the films need to do is to stop using nostalgia as a crutch and focus on doing something original. Spock Prime had a meaningful role to play in the first movie, but his appearance in the second was a gimmick, and they left out Kirk's cameo in the first because that would've been a gimmick, and they should've stuck with that wisdom.

And Bryan Cranston for the bad guy?!

I know this is all baseless rumors but that news alone could make me even more excited than I thought possible for a third JJverse movie.

If not Cranston, maybe "sorta Cranston?"

In another thread, I mentioned Judi Dench as an actor I'd like to see in the movie. Federation president would be perfect for her.

I also mentioned Rosario Dawson in that thread. So, there's your female starship captain.

Who could you see playing McCoy's ex-wife? Not going to lie. That is the most fascinating bit in this rumor to me. Probably looking for someone in late 40s, early 50s. Unfortunately, I'm drawing a blank on actresses of that ilk.

The thought of Cranston is pretty appealing. I flipped out when I found Mike on Breaking Bad was already on DS9 once.

Also, it sounds good that there's more women. I wonder if Alice Eve will still be in it too?

I don't mind mr canston but three new female characters is over kill. we cant even get enough time for uhura and carol .how will 3 new females help the story where the cast is already huge ?



Maybe Lin will try a new approach, make the story more scifi than about the kirk and spock dynamic that was overkill in the second film to the point they had to re act wrath of khan.
