"Star Trek: 2079"

Drawing together Star Trek 2009 and TNG's Encounter at Farpoint. Or...whatever happened to the wreckage of the Narada when it got sucked thru a new temporal vortex? This piece was entered into the August Trek Art contest. There is a story involved, so I would like to further develop this comic/story board presentation.

U.E.S. Polaris, a DY-550 type I designed, is loaded down with supplies and crew for the all-new "Jupiter Station". En route, the Polaris investigates a mysterious anomaly: a lightning storm in space.

Meanwhile, the villainous Chief Judge Lexan, leader of the last remaining "faction" outside of the new United Earth Alliance, plots to undermine the Polaris' mission with the aid of agents posing as Polaris and Station personnel. The sudden arrival of an immense field of wreckage containing radically advanced technology may change Earths destiny forever.

In 2079, most of Earth is now part of the new United Earth Alliance. But the old factions of the War are not fully gone. In this story Chief Judge and High Magister, Daria Lexan, is who Q was cosplaying as: She led one of the largest and most powerful "factions" before, during and after WW3. She was an infamous figure of this era.

She leads the Magisterium, which is a religions-political-military organization and movement. At the head are the Magisters and Judges of the Order of the Black Falcon, of which she is Chief. The military wing includes the elite Knights of the Black Falcon, and the less elite infantry. Those are the guys who take addictive, performance enhancing drugs and who are seen in Encounter at Farpoint.

In the "Prime" timeline, she and the Magisterium are overthrown by UEA forces and UEA govt-backed rebels by 2090, and she is tried for crimes against humanity. But the emergence of the wreckage from the 23rd/24th Century may change that.

The very first Jupiter Station is nearly operational. However, the Magisterium is seeking to sabotage the project. They have agents who have infiltrated the Polaris. In Prime history, their plot is discovered, and Polaris and the Station are saved.

The Magisterium knows about the Vulcan-Andorian conflict. They are clandestinely seeking military aid from the Andorians to overthrow the UEA govt. In exchange, the Andorians will replace the Vulcans as the main Alien Power ally of Earth. The Andorians, for their part, viewed Earth as a primitive, weak civilization that had become a compliant puppet state of the Vulcans. They wish to cause problems for the Vulcans and est bases in the strategically valuable Earth system. But they regard the nearly beaten Magisterium as an ally of little value.

The debris field changes everything. Andoria had already been monitoring Earth for years in order to keep track of the activity of Vulcan ships in the area. The intercepted messages about radically advanced technology beyond anything in the quadrant has changed their minds about granting the Magisterium an alliance. But they want the wreckage.

Nicely done! I envy those with any graphic arts abilities - I couldn't draw water with a bucket.

Interesting premise - and nice to give some context to the Q-judge.

Thanks! rbs
