Star Trek 2 Image?

During an interview at last night’s MTV Movie Awards,* J.J. Abrams may have revealed an alien character to be seen in Star Trek 2. The character appeared on a computer screen behind Abrams, who was being interviewed discussing the return of archery as seen in movies such as Hunger Games. The image is a Klingon, [...]

Kinda looks like the same Klingon glimpsed for about a quarter-second in the DVD/Blu-Ray Special Features preview. Then again, he's wearing a helmet, so it's hard to say for sure.

It's not from Trek XI - same helmet, but the Trek XI ones just had big leather coats with wide collars - that one's wearing a different and slightly more complex costume.

Anybody want to bet Sherlock's under the helmet?

The one I'm thinking of was a behind-the-scenes blip, rather than from one of the deleted scenes, but you're probably right about the costume being different - this still looks like an overcoat Klingon and the one behind J.J. doesn't. I mostly thought the backlighting was similar.

Not even with Monopoly money. I'll wait and see.

Some folks thought this was a still from ST09 but I'm sure most people understand it's JJ kinda throwing an Easter egg out there. As for the ridge/no-ridge dilemma, the helmet pretty much gives it away though some people think they're ridgeless still. If you look at some of the close-ups you can see a bit of make-up around the eyes towards the nose so I'm sure they'll be ridged. Plus it wouldn't make sense to have helmets with ridges if there's nothing there to protect.

It's a non-issue either way, for me. If on screen Klingons have ridges then they were not affected by the pathegen, (or were cured.) If they do not, they were affected, (perhaps immune to cure.)

There's room, (and perhaps a story or two to tell about them,) in the Universe for both.
