"Star Charts" help needed

darkwing_duck1

Vice Admiral
The most recent "Star Charts" book didn't include Cait (for the ususal reasons I'm sure) or even 15 Lyncis (the proper name for it's system primary).

Could someone familiar with both the Star Charts book and the supposed location of Cait/15 Lyncis give me some idea of where on the map it SHOULD be?

Any help appreciated...

Actually, I thought I remembered that Cait did get slipped in somewhere into "Star Charts", just the once, but not Edos (92 Trianguli-Rho) - or even the novels' Triex.

Cait, Edos, Ringworld and the Kzinti territories were all indicated on the previous Bantam publication, "Star Trek Maps".

If it did, I can't find it, and I don't have the old Bantam charts to look it up.

And the Kzinti are in Star Charts as "The Patriarchy".

Thanks for trying to help though... :)

Ah! According to my notes, CAIT (15 Lyncis) is there!

Yep... page 37 of "Star Charts" to the left of the UFP emblem. Also see the bound-in fold-out map called "United Federation of Planets II". Cait is shown just below the small rectangle marked "Chart 3".

On the old "Maps" (Bantam, 1980), you'd pass by Edos on your way to Camus II, Triskelion, Memory Alpha, Daran V and Romulus. You'd pass Cait just outside the "original boundary of Federation" on your way to Epsilon Canaris, where Zefram Cochrane met The Companion, and continung on to Donatu V and the Klingon Empire.

*edit* sorry...overlooked part of your post

...Also, the fact that Cait is on those pages can be seen in the Lost Years novel The Sundered, which uses Cait/15 Lyncis as a location proximal to Tholian space.

No source before Star Charts had made this connection between Cait and Tholian space, mainly because no source had quite nailed down where the Tholians live. Moreover, Star Charts lists no other stars of import near Tholian space. This is of course an artifact found in Star Charts only, and reveals their use as source material for The Sundered...

Nitpick: Lost Era

And yup, I totally concur, Vanguard: "Harbinger" Makes reference to Cait around here as well, as well as being close to tholian space. I think that Marco went so far as to say the appx location of the setting for Vanguard is around that Federation Seal on page 37, about equidistant between Klingon and Tholian Spaces.
