Orci To Shoot Star Trek 2016 In Vancouver – Enterprise Sets To Be Rebuilt

TrekMovie has an exclusive follow-up on yesterday’s news about the Star Trek movie shooting in Seoul. The Korea shoot will be just for a portion of the film, TrekMovie has learned that the studio is planning on shooting principally in Vancouver. More details below.

Complete article here...

Sorry, typo in the thread title. It's being filmed in 2015 for 2016 release.

It'll be worth it to see Star Trek filmed in the Vancouver forest that so many Stargate episodes were filmed in.

I thought you meant they were going to shoot in Vancouver in 2016 not that the name of the movie was Star trek 2016.

In all seriousness, I would be quite surprised if anything recognizable from Vancouver and environs actually appeared in the film. Pretty much everything is heavily green screened and animated.

For example, in STiD, both Nibiru and the moon on which Bones and Carol deactivate the torpedo were filmed in the Ballona Wetlands of Playa Del Rey, California. The battle on the Narada's drill in ST'09 was filmed in the parking lot of the Los Angeles Police Academy. Downtown 23rd Century San Francisco and London were actually downtown 21st century Los Angeles. Admittedly, those you could recognize if you looked hard enough. But you get the point.

Just as long as Uhura doesn't start answering a corded phone, and they drive the Enterprise's Hummers on a landing party....

"Rebuilt sets" interests me. I wonder if we're in for a big change in the Enterprise's interiors? It happened before, most noticeably between the end of IV and the start of V. And if they don't want to film in California, they'll need a new warp core.

I have certainly missed my weekly dose of Canadian Forest Planet since the demise of Stargate. I hope they find something interesting there.

Maybe not. They might still be able to do a small shoot without breaking the budget.

Oh, you beat me to it on that one.

Or maybe we won't have a scene in Engineering in this case. Solves the problem rather easily.

Saying that is like saying there won't be a scene on the bridge. It's not gonna happen.

Well, they may not specifically need the warp core section of engineering. As far as the rest of engineering goes, there must be big breweries in British Columbia. ;)

First result on Google Image Search for "breweries in british columbia".

Aaaannnnd, nope...you weren't kidding. Who woulda' guessed?

Well, why can't that become the new engineering? I'm already imagining a scene involving Scotty and Keenser...

The redwoods in BC could easily serve as a back drop for an alien planet. As could the mountains in Northern BC. It's got lush rolling hills among mountain peaks, as well as crystal clear lakes/rivers.

Anybody cares to weigh in on the latest rumours that Paramount rejected the Orci script and it´s all back to square one?

Hadn't heard that one, and Google turns up nothing other than your post in this thread.

Who's doing the rumoring?
