Apologies to the cardinal, I'm not reposting that other post... I just wanted to add this screengrab:

Now I need to resist the temptation to retroactively replace that image with some guy in a thong.

It's from an illegal copy of the theatrical version put up on the internet. A Blu-Ray screencap would be even larger.

None of the movies have been released (officially) in HD yet.

Beautiful image. Even though that matte-line looks horrible. :)

I was looking for a cap from the live action footage, but it's been so long since I last saw it, I have to ask...

... was the starfield always animated, in the theatrical cut?

Anyway, here's some more. It's awesome.

I'm uploading them as we speak, with 5 minutes remaining. If some don't display, try in a few minutes.

    Cool pics.

BUT, am I the only that doesn't see this as a HUGE upgrade? I mean, yeah, the HD is better, but not SOOOO much better than standard to me. Maybe I'm crazy.

Well, compared to the standard DVD resolution (720x480), this is much nicer.

Of course, it's nothing compared to 1080p, or perhaps the 2-8K scans of the film that would be used to make a "true" HD remastering.

The starfield was always there, but in the director's cut they placed a nacelle in that window which i thought was cool.
