Star trek Online is in my opinion an online interactive story. You progress through like a holo-novel taking on the role of an ensign and climb the ladder quickly to command then move up in rank and ship posting by completing the mission set. I've found the game to be mostly completable by just making sure you upgrade to better items as you advance in ranks. The game is, if you upgrade your gear selection to level equivalents, complete-able by mouse clicking.
Level grabbing or playing to advance in rank quickly serves only to eliminate the story plot or theme. There are seasons of the game where your ship takes part in several episodes as if you were playing the stars. It is not really much of strategy game or involves any unsolvable quests but involves several depth plots with cinematic movie scenes between places of player controlled movement.
It is in my opinion... a holo-novel of the 21st century on lower level with safety settings. The story, however, is intricate and worthy of pursuing.
