ST:ENT: Rise of the Federation: A Choice of Futures [spoilers]

You guys read it? I'm about one third through, and liking it so far.

Some really interesting choices there - T'Pol is in command of USS Endeavor and has an Andorian first officer, Malcolm is the captain of USS Pioneer with Travis as his first mate. Trip is still a Section 31 agent, and there was even a mention of one Sven "Buttercup" Hansen (7of9's great great grandfather or something, nice fanwank there, Christopher  ).

A fun read. The sequel, "Tower of Babel" is coming out in late March, I'll be sure to pick it up.

I thought it was okay. Not Earth-shattering but a huge improvement over the Romulan War novels.

A few spoiler-ific things I liked...
Archer and Malcolm suffering serious side effects as a result of years of transporter use (Archer has the beginnings of Space Parkinsons and Malcolm's sterile)

Malcolm having his "Twilight" beard

A MACO officer named Kirk! I was hoping for that in the series.

Everyone having moved on and being in new situations.

Retconning away the nonsense about Romulan War era-TOS ships being low tech, now it's starship designers becoming enamoured with retro-style dials and toggle switches as technology moves forward.

Not too happy about...
Trip remaining a 31 agent and not coming back to the fold as we'd all expected.

I liked this book when I read it last year. Book 2 Tower of Babel comes out on March 25. Christopher L.Benett recently posted he's busy writing books 3 titled Uncertain Logic coming out early 2015 and book 4 is coming out in 2016.He mentions wanting have more space expoloration explored in future novels.New Missions for Captains T'Pol & Malcolm Reed.

Trip remaining a 31 agent and not coming back to the fold as we'd all expected.
Him coming back to the fold would defy the established canon (even though TATV's canon status is debatable, because if stuff seen on graphic displays (such as Archer's bio from IaMD) isn't considered canon, then holodeck simulations shouldn't be either), plus, we already know from the previous novels that Trip never reclaimed his old identity.
