A Native New Englander here too. I absolutely miss the fall foliage of New England, the crisp air, the cider, the fields filled with pumpkins, the brillant color when the leaves are halfway between green and bright orange. It has been 12 years since I had seen the fall colors in New England.

One thing I miss about living in New York was fall. We didn't get the beautiful colors of fall leaves in NYC, of course (except in some of the bigger parks), but my family would always take a weekend (usually Columbus Day) and go upstate to pick apples, buy cider, and admire the foliage.

I like autumn best. Partially for the relief you feel when the temperature finally breaks a bit. The first two weeks of actual Spring are probably my least favorite of the year, as that's when the trees bloom and the pollen kicks my ass.

Right now it's cold, clammy and dead gray. And it's supposed to stay that way for at least two more weeks, so fie on you and your "Spring".

Stunning sunrise, RJ! How on earth did you manage to get up at that time!? :p
Thank you. :) I'm up at about 4am almost every day, except maybe Sunday. It's my biorhythms. :rommie:

But it gives me the opportunity to get a lot of nice sunrise pics. Right now I'm still uploading stuff to my new webspace, but I'll Post more soon.

It was in the 20s the other day. Fucking COLD!

March is the part of the year in Illinois where Mother Nature gets drunk and can't figure out what season she's supposed to be. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we got more snow.

Those images are quite lovely. It makes me envious actually. Much of the scenery around here have become automobile slums. Which isn't too bad if one thinks strip malls and storage parks as far as the eye can see compliments the environment in any way. Sadly, I'm not one of those people. :(

so many people out doing the same thing, too.

I never said I was original!

Oh, and I really like your jeans Holdfast, very flattering, and a lovely colour.

Thanks! Diesel Larkee, one of the darker washes.

I'm forcing you to pick one. Think of it as Sophie's Choice for seasons. :)
All right then, I picked Spring, since it carries a feeling of relief. :D

You choose well, padawan learner.

I love this analogy.

Yeah, I live in a very pretty city. Those pics are all from various parts of the city centre, by the way. The University and Colleges own large chunks that they keep green.

It always cracks me up to hear UK men say stuff like 'lovely'. You'd never hear a guy in the states use that word in a sentence without being sarcastic. "Yes, it's lovely, Darling..."

Anyway, I'm with RJ, I love all the seasons - mostly cuz I've lived in the South and know what it's like to live without the change in seasons.

But, if forced to choose, it's gotta be Spring.

Ah, it shows. :D

I can never get enough of them. The last pair I bought were Thanaz homme. I haven't stopped wearing them since. Every time I think about buying a more cost-effective brand, they remind me why I shouldn't. Bastards. :p I remember when they cost half what they do now, and it wasn't so long ago!

Actually, you just did. Seeing as how I'm an American and I wasn't being sarcastic. :p

Hey, I'm not just ANY UK man. :p

Actually, we're all trained to say it from a young age "ahhh... lovely cuppa". It's memorised just before we move on to reciting our times tables. That, and I probably watched My Fair Lady too many times... "oh, wouldn't it be luvverly...."

Yeah, they're pretty cool. I spent a bit of time shopping around lots of different brands a couple of months ago to find a pair that fit me just right and this pair did it. I'm going to try to find another pair of good jeans later in the year I think - I want to try out APC New Standards, Dior Homme (just for the fun of trying them, rather than seriously being willing to pay for them), RRL slim straights and maybe some Ironhearts if I can ever find some in this country.

Spring is my favorite season. Unfortunately, it won't be as green here as in Holdfast's photos for at least another 3-4 weeks.

I'm just happy most of the snow has melted here! But flowers? Hell, gthere's not even buds on the trees yet!

That said, I love Spring, allergies notwithstanding :D

It's supposed to be nice and warm tomorrow (12C) so I'm planning for a nice long walk while my son goes to the Science Centre with his dad.

Great photos Holdfast.
I vote spring, it brings hope and for the first time today I felt the sun warm my back. T'was luvverly ;)

I'm going to vote for Summer actually. It used to be Winter (what with the snow and all) but having had the opportunity to spend two blazing hot summers in 2003 (one of them in January ;)) I've fallen in love with that season.

The one thing I do love about Winter however is seeing the night sky and its wonderful constellations in all their glory at a reasonable time of the day. In the Northern Hemisphere, that means the magnificent Orion and his hunting dogs, Canis Major and Canis Minor. :bolian: [Why so Sirius? - someone]
