I simply adore this time of year!

It was a lovely sunny day today, the first really good day of the year. For the first time one could go outside for a proper walk in sunshine, feeling that first feeble warmth on your back, looking at the trees and flowers tentatively pushing their way into life. We could even have afternoon tea out on the patio of a local restaurant, a sure sign of Spring.

My own energy levels seem doubled, and the bright sunshine mirrors my brighter mood. The light is beautiful and the world is a wonderful place.

Who else loves this time of year? What's your favourite time of year? There's a poll attached, if you fancy voting!

A few random snaps I took on my walk...

It never rains in Southern California, but it pours, man it pours.

Here in Florida, it's been nice all week, though somewhat dry, exacerbating the drought. Switching from Hammond to Collins, "I wish it would rain down, down on me."

Excellent. Time to end my hibernation. :D

Emerge from your chrysalis! It's time!

Oh well, I guess we have April Showers to come. :)

I love spring time the best. The temps are just right, and there is so much going on.

Yep, everywhere you look, more things are growing and generally bursting forth.

Shut up. It's freaking snowing here. Spring Break my ass.

The longer Londo wears a santa hat, the longer your winter will be. :p

You have no Poll option for New Englanders who like the whole cycle.

Coincidentally, I took my first Spring walk on the beach this morning. It was chillier than I thought going out, but I got my first sunrise pics of 2009 (I think), and also a few nice shots of the seagulls. A couple of examples:

By the way, you live in a beautiful area. :bolian:

We have no real spring or fall here, it's quite sad. I miss them. Fall is my favorite... spring loses marks for all the allergens :p

What? No pictures of girls in skirts? Because that's one of my favorite things about spring: breaking out my dresses and skirts! It's finally warming up here (though only about one degree a day), but the only blooms in New York City so far are printed on my wardrobe.
As for favorites, I'll have to go with autumn, but spring is a close second.

There were two fairly cute girls in shortish skirts at the next table at tea. When the sun dipped behind a cloud for a short while and temperature dropped a few degrees as a result, they had to borrow a couple of blankets that the restaurant had stacked in a basket for just such an occurence. I've been to that restaurant lots, but never noticed they had those handy; maybe it's a new feature. In any case, quite a clever customer service touch, I thought.

I love spring. The daffodils are coming up, and the forsythia bushes are blooming. Pretty soon the cherry, pear, and dogwood trees will follow!

Your pictures show what I miss most about England and Ireland. We will have spring here, just not yet!

The birds are beginning to sing though, so the world is waking up again even if there is still several feet of snow on the ground.

Winter is finally beginning to break here in Ottawa. Today was absolutely lovely... high of 9 and sunny all day. Supposed to be even warmer on Tuesday, too, so I think the rivers and such should see the ice break up over the next couple of days. :)

EDIT: All that said, my favourite season is fall. ;)

I took a walk along the canal, along with my young siblings today, it was so gorgeous... so many people out doing the same thing, too. I wish I'd thought to take a few snaps. It's supposed to be even better tomorrow, sunny with spells of 17° across the south. Can't wait!

Oh, and I really like your jeans Holdfast, very flattering, and a lovely colour.

Stunning sunrise, RJ! How on earth did you manage to get up at that time!? :p

A Native New Englander here too. I absolutely miss the fall foliage of New England, the crisp air, the cider, the fields filled with pumpkins, the brillant color when the leaves are halfway between green and bright orange. It has been 12 years since I had seen the fall colors in New England.
