Spoilery question about the U.S. showings of HEROES (help me...please)

I don't understand what's happened to Peter's being, as his mother (in a possible future) said "The most powerful of us all".

WHY is he no longer able to access all the powers he's copied in the past? For a good while he had them all.

I missed a lot of last season (have them recorded...haven't watched), so did something happen when his father took his power? (I'm not even sure how he got it back.) Is he now limited to only one power at a time, and no longer able to hold onto them? If he gets a new one, he loses the one he'd had up to then?

I thought something was wrong all this season (for example, in the opener, he didn't fly to the car accident, but swung like an ape from fire escapes "thanks to Dr. Suresh") and now it's become clear to me.

WHAT happened to his having a collection of abiilities?

Also, while we're at it, didn't Sylar find last season that he could do what Peter did and just copy powers without stealing them? Seemed to do that with "lightning girl". If so, why did he later kill her and cut her head open?

Someone fill in the blanks on Peter's and Sylar's powers, on what's changed. Pleeeze?

Thanks.

(Yes, I know Sylar killed Nathan after copying his memories, and that Matt supressed Sylar's own memories and forced him into Nathan's form having access only to Nathan's memories.... For a while.)

His father absorbed all his abilities. Then Peter took the "ability serum" without knowing what power he would get. And it turned out he can only absorb and keep one power at a time.

Drat. I liked it when he could give Sylar a run for his money. This stinks.

Thanks for the reply, tho'. Appreciate it.

What about Sylar's change in abilities/style, tho'?

If you're referring to Sylar for this season, it's a plot that makes zero sense whatsoever. Basically, Sylar killed Nathan... and for no reason whatsoever Claire's blood wasn't brought up as a way to save Nathan... and for no reason whatsoever Angela couldn't live without her son, so even though he's DEAD, she thought it would be a good idea to make Sylar think he's Nathan. So Sylar still has all his powers. He just doesn't know it because he doesn't know he's Sylar. Well, he sort of does now, but he still has no memories of himself.

Yeah, basically, the writers came to their senses with regard to Peter--realizing that he could quickly solve everyone's problems by absorbing everyone else's powers. So, they depowered him and then gave him the "empathy" power, letting him absorb a single power from whomever he last touched.

At least his arc kind of makes sense this season, which is more than I can say for some of the others.

I think you misunderstand.

My question was with regards to the fact that last season Sylar found out that somehow he was able to actually COPY powers like Peter could. He didn't have to kill someone and analyze their brain. He copied lightning girl's power, but then later ended uo cutting her head open anyway.

I'm wondering why he went back to head hunting when he can just do an "old Peter" and acquire a power thru proximity.

Short answer -- he went back to headhunting because Kristen Bell didn't want to be on the show anymore.
