Spock's science station scanner thingy

ZapBrannigan recently made a photo comparison between the Moiré patterned scanner on Spock's science station with a pattern seen on NASA's developmental photon sieve. It is the double-slit experiment writ large. With that in mind, I suppose we may—or may not—learn something from it.

Spock would probably say, "Fascinating," while Einstein was off somewhere rolling dice.
 
Possibly EMP-proof, but they can't be "green" computers with all that evil carbon in them. </sarc>

Punch cards, or those 20 Amp relays in Robby the Robot's face. (For heavy thoughts.) Each clock cycle must sound like the Throne Room scene at the end of Star Wars when all the troops turn in unison and stomp their heels.
