Well, in the third season, they stopped using the velour uniforms, and the avocado green tunics that looked gold on camera were replaced with tunics of a different fabric that matched the apparent gold color of the velour ones. So the gold shirts are not a myth, not entirely.

And Kirk does say "Beam us up, Scotty" in TAS: "The Infinite Vulcan" -- and "Scotty, beam us up" in "The Savage Curtain." So, almost.

Dag, so the little green square of cloth stuck on a certificate of authenticity stating it was leftovers from the third season is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE???

Well, there goes the well established fact that the material for the third season was chosen to match the actual color from the previous seasons. TNG was previously believed to be the first to change the color to match what the color incorrectly looked like.
