spiritual episodes

Hi everyone,
I am starting to re explore the original series. My favorite has been Voyager because it has many spiritual, symbolic and archetypal themes, like the doctor and Seven learning to become individualized. There are many dream sequences and references to the spiritual journey, like the shamanic journeys.
Can anyone recommend some "deep" or spiritually symbolic TOS episodes. If not then, episodes that are deep, or about courage and sacrifice. Thank you

I've alway found Balance of Terror to be fairly deep, self-sacrifice, lose, a honorable enemy, and the price of war thing.

Although it's a 60's western, "Who Mourns For Adonais" ends with what was, for me, one of the finest laments in Trek:

"They gave us so much. The Greek civilisation, much of our culture and philosophy came from a worship of those beings. In a way, they began the Golden Age. Would it have hurt us, I wonder, just to have gathered a few laurel leaves?"

"The Empath." Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are all vying for the right to sacrifice himself for the Vians' experiment in order to save the others.
