Just got to this thread, and I wouldn't mind seeing a female Indiana Jones in theory.
I know this is only theorectical, but I think the biggest problem is that there already a few female Indiana Jones type characters out there, so they'd have to work pretty hard to keep her from feeling a Lara Croft rip-off for example.
I'd keep it a it a period story, and I'd make her either Indy's daughter or protege rather than a reboot.
