Spoilers Speculations that came true

If you haven't watched the last batch of episodes, there are spoilers ahead.

I hope I'm not re-treading well-trodden ground too much here... I avoided the forum until I actually had a chance to watch the episodes, so that nothing would be spoiled for me.

I see there has already been a lot of discussion about Ash/Tyler the character, the surgical procedure, the battling consciousnesses, etc. But what struck me most was how early on we, the viewing audience, saw this whole situation coming. So when it was finally revealed in the show, it was really no surprise at all. Did CBS just not do a good enough job of hiding this reveal?

I also seem to recall that when Discovery ended up in the mystery zone, we quickly latched on to the idea that they had transported to the mirror universe. Did the producers spill the beans on this? I can't remember at this point. And did we guess the revelation about mirror Lorca ahead of time?

Were there any other speculations about season one that came true? And what gave them away?

I figured after Lorca's second or third appearance and rumors of the MU floating around that he was probably from the MU. Got that one right. The Ash thing was telegraphed for several episodes.

The show completely botched every surprise.

Culber's death was genuinely shocking, but mostly yeah. Some of that was due to leaks though. Others due to making the show accessible enough for casual viewers - us jaded fuckers always spot the plots. I was chuckling well before the "used the holoship to recreate their simulation" reveal in Insurrection whilst my non-nerd peeps were going "what?".

I was late coming onto the "Ash is Voq" Speculation Train but once I was sold on it, I was sold.

I didn't expect Lorca to be from the Mirror Universe. I thought they were going to make him a Don Draper complicated type. Though, technically, he was because Don Draper was also not who he was pretending to be.

After "Lethe", I suspected Lorca wouldn't be around forever.

I could see something going wrong with Stamets and the Spore Drive as soon as he started plugging himself into it.

I didn't see the Enterprise coming when it did. I thought it would be "eventually" but not at the very end of the first season.

I thought it would be never, until I saw a thread with Enterprise in the title before watching the finale... Also, does anyone remember that guy on reddit who said he worked on the Enterprise CG model and then everybody was like "what the Enterprise appears?!?!" and he backpaddled and said that he didn't know Star Trek very well and he just ment the hero ship? Does anyone else think he knew Star Trek a bit better than he claimed to? :D

LOL yeah he fucked up. Probably he needs to take the Jonathan Frakes attitude of "spoilers lol wtf is that?"

Culber's death and the Enterprise were the surprises I didn't see coming a mile off. I was semi-expecting the E but only because PixelMagic posted it from inside info. In all fairness, the show itself kept it pretty quiet.

Otherwise, speculations generally turned out correct - MirrorLorca, Tyler=Voq, Mirror Universe trip, Emperor is Georgiou.

The one that didn't was Section 31 being involved, but it seems the writers may be turning that one into a self fulfilling prophecy.

I was expecting Culber to be a continuing character throughout the series, so that was somewhat of a shock.

STD is not Prime... oh wait, you want speculations that already were confirmed? Umm, yeah I recall few discussions before season 1 about possibilities about profanities and nudity. We got one and (kinda.. sorta.. blink and you miss it couple fake prosthetic boobs) the other.

Stamets looking into a ... mirror was both an indication of other Stamets and gee something mirror related. That was a double clue!

Is there actually a problem here? It's not like guessing the reveal made the episodes or even the twist, not work.

The only way a twist could be completely unguessable would be for it to really come out of nowhere. Do we want that?

I sure as hell didn't expect Culber's death nor Phillipa's journey to the prime Universe.

Most of my casual fan friends didn't predict anything. I, of course, was spoiled for a few things given all the speculation out here.

I refused to believe Lorca was a bad guy. That didn't help me in the end though.
