Speculation about old Spock

captainkirk

Commodore
Commodore
I've suspected this for a while but after watching the Nimoy version of the trailer I'm now more sure than ever that I'm right. Old Spock is going to die to save the Enterprise. If you watch the part of the trailer where he says "Live long and prosper" there is a slight pause between the "long" and the "the" which makes him seem a bit emotoinal that he's seen Kirk again, most likely for the last time. Am I the only one who got this feeling?

I've been getting this feeling that Abrams is killing off Nimoy's Spock for good in this movie, either through a more natural death of advancing age/declining health or through an accident or event during Spock's attempts to fix the timeline that allows him to die like the hero he always was. Maybe that's why Nimoy decided to do the film in spite of some negative catcalls from the fanbase? He knew it'd be his swan song as Spock and after this the older version of the character would be put to rest.

you could be right, but it also might be a bit of nostalgia on spocks part after meeting his long dead friend one last time.

I think what he meant to write is "and" --
...between the "long" and the "and" which...
-- makes everything else fit.

Oops. That should have been "and".

thanks for clearing that up. ;) i was just kiddin anyway!;)

I'm hoping the end of the movie sees old Spock return to his own timeline, to be met by a man hidden in shadows, who steps forward, reveals himself to be the Shat, who congratulates Spock on a job well done.

Now THAT would be cool!

How, if the timeline is still different, which unless they go back and undo what Nero has done which is stupid (as they would have done that to begin with), Kirk may never get pulled into the Nexus so will die in the late 23rd or early 24th.

The end of the movie will be the 23rd century not the 24th.

Killing Spock again?? That would be sooo stupid.

First of all....why would people like that now when they did not in Star Trek 2?

Also, he has already died, killing him again is.....stupid and would be predictable

Doesn't mean Abrams won't do it, though. With the franchise out of B&B's hands and the original production team almost totally gone, Nimoy might have seen an appearance in TREK XI as a chance to have old Spock die/exit with a heroic final deed that maintains history and saves the Federation or whatever.

I don't know, I don't think he'll die. But I think they are going to write off the character in a good way, but honestly I don't think they can top his death in Star Trek 2.

They will take a trip around the sun and then beam old Spock into new Spock.

So we'll get an even newer ultra Spock. Young and with all the wisdom of the old one.
