Speculate on Where Tim Tebow Is Going

Jets just acquired Tebow for a 4th-round pick.

Except that Manning calls the shots of any offense he runs and he has never been that running back dependent has he?

Didn't the Colts get to the Super Bowl one year with the worst or near worst running game in the league?
...And then won that Super Bowl in the rain with a stellar running performance.

Adam Schefter is now saying there may be a problem with the trade.

(1): Denver and Jets have encountered hangup in language in Tim Tebow's contract that could nullify trade.

(2) If the Tebow trade to Jets falls apart, St. Louis could wind up getting back into play. Sides sorting through details.

So wait, after reading up on this, let me see if I understand what happened correctly:

-Tebow's contract with Denver included a provision whereby Denver paid a total of $5 million of his 2012/13/14 salary upfront, but it said that if he's ever traded, then the team he's traded to would have to reimburse Denver for that money.

-The other teams that Denver was negotiating with understood that, and that's why they didn't want to trade for Tebow, because they didn't want to give up both the draft picks and the cash.

-The Jets legal people were too dumb to understand the contract, so they made the trade without realizing that they'd have to pay this extra $5 million.

-Once they realized that they'd be on the hook for the $5 million, they wanted out of the trade. So now it's a question of whether the trade has already been finalized or not....if the Jets can still get out of it.

From my understanding, the paperwork hasn't been filed with the NFL, so there is no real trade yet, despite the Jets tweeting about the trade (idiots).

I'm not sure who is worse off, the Jets or the Dolphins. Supposedly, there was a group of picketers outside of the Dolphins offices asking for Ireland's resignation.

Is the clause is for Denver's benefit or Tebow's? If it's for Denver, can't they waive it?

It's for Denver's benefit. This is money that Denver has already paid to Tebow in 2011 as an advance on 2012/13/14 salary, which the contract says must now be reimbursed to Denver by whichever team they're trading to. Denver doesn't want to waive it, because, as far as they're concerned, the Jets already agreed to it by agreeing to the trade, but were too dumb to understand what it was they were agreeing to. Denver says they thought the Jets understood what they were agreeing to, but apparently they didn't.

So now if the Jets won't agree to the trade terms that Denver thought they had agreed to, I guess the trade may not happen at all, and Denver could end up dealing Tebow to Jacksonville or St. Louis or something, under potentially different terms.

I think what Alidar was referring to was how if it looks like the trade is going to fall through, it's in Denver's best interests to be magnanimous and just waive the reimbursement. If Denver wants to jettison Tebow, they should be as palatable as possible!

Which is partially what ended up happening, because it turns out Denver and NYJ will be splitting the $5M.

Yeah, what I meant was, if Denver wants to trade Tebow and it was necessary to get a deal done, could they waive the 5 million. Apparently the answer is yes since they waived half of it.

Denver was without a quarterback when Tebow was there. He had a good run, but didn't have the tools to be the long term answer.

He's a competitor, I'll give him that.

And fuck Pat Robertson. How long has it been since he's been relevant?
