Special Project request: Enterprise refit

One thing I like about Trek Art is the incredible amount of talent that is showcased here. Lots of great ships created.

So, if anyone has the desire to try something new I have an idea:

How about creating the Enterprise refit, from the time that Kirk's 5 year mission ends until the ship is ready in TMP?

I think it would be cool to show the refit in stages, for example;

1) TOS Enterprise as we knew her
2) Removal of the old warp nacelles
3) Removal of Bridge module
4) Saucer upgrade
5) Secondary hull upgrade
6) Installation of new nacelles

You get the idea. I've always wondered how the actual refit was done, was the ship stripped to her skeleton and then rebuilt? Was new hull plating just added on top of the old?

I think this would be a great project for someone to undertake. Just a thought...

That's kind of a neat idea. I probably won't actually do it, but if I were to, I bet I would approach it like a project proposal. In other words, a series of sheets that would illustrate the progressive rebuilding much as you outlined it above. Could be pretty interesting.

Very cool....that's sort of what I was looking for, but maybe a bit more detailed. Thanks for the link!
