(I thought Ghost Rider'd be forgotten by now - though this is a reboot, not a sequel)
... Comes the news that WB is looking at doing a new Tomb Raider franchise. New cast, stories, etc.
I'm not a gamer, but I always thought a sexy Indiana Jones was a pretty good excuse for a movie. I didn't bother with the first, but tried the second on dvd after reading some good reviews. I only got halfway through, however, before giving up in boredom. As for Jolie, I found her too stiff to be interesting. Harrison Ford made his Indy performances fun because he actually looks scared, and I like Brendan Fraser's Rick O'Connell because he can look scared and be funny at the same time.
Jolie, on the other hand, seemed to be thinking "eh, another life-threatening challenge, whatev." And she was so glamorous and poised in non-action situations that there didn't seem any room for the character to expand. Again, Indy is lovable because his professorial side is so mild-mannered and earnestly geeky and O'Connell (at least in the first Mummy) is fun because he's an immature oaf with moderate social skills at best.
Of all the female ass-kickers we've seen over the years, imo (though I still haven't seen Alien; waiting for a big-screen showing), none have top T2's Sarah Connor, because she's a real character with concrete attachments. Here's hoping that a Tomb Raider reboot will have some heart along with the ass-kicking and eye candy.
