Space-Map Idea

I think it would be cool to somehow, reasonably speaking, create a 3D space-map that would show accurately the relationships of other stars to ours, and to the milky-way galaxy.

Like it would list how many light-years all the stars nearest to us would be and their relationship in 3D relative to us and the rest of the galaxy

Out of curiosity, does such a thing exist already?

I like the application Our Neighbours 1.0. Here is a brief description...

Our Neighbours is an application that charts the locations of the 70 nearest stars to the sun. By dragging on the chart you can rotate it in any direction, which gives you a strong feel for the locations of our Sun's neighbours.​

And a couple examples of what you'll see (with a small rotation between the images)...

It is a nice and simple little app (which is also free).
