Sorry if there is a thread on this already, I just stumbled onto it.

Marc Scott Zicree appears to be making another new "Trek like" series.

"SPACE COMMAND is an original Epic Science Fiction Drama series that follows the adventures of the United Planet’s Space Command, a dedicated group of scientists, soldiers and adventurers exploring the solar system. The series recalls the space operas of the golden age of science fiction that enthralled audiences with an optimistic view of future and a belief in the triumphant spirit of mankind."

Interesting cast as well with lots of old favorites.

I was in on the original Kickstarter for this a few years ago. It's grown to be a much more ambitious project than it originally was and Zicree has been trying to sell it as a series-- it's hard to tell how well he's actually doing with that, since he's a bit of a Stan Lee-style huckster.

In any case, in addition to the original Kickstarter, he's been selling shares to investors, and is about to start a new "finishing" Kickstarter. As I understand it, the entire first movie has been shot, and part of the second-- only the SFX from the first movie need to be completed. Zicree has quite a lot of friends from being in the business so long, so he has been able to put together quite a cast, including Mira Furlan, Billy Mumy, Robert Picardo, and that guy who's now in Discovery. When, or if, this ever gets completed, I think it will be quite good.

I don't know if they've shown anything from it recently, but if it's finished I have very low expectations judging from this trailer:

The acting isn't great, but I've definitely seen worse.

So have I, but the writing and directing seemed pretty dire as well.

That's the thing. That trailer is two years old and I don't know if they've released another one since then. I'd kind of forgotten about the project until this thread. I know indie projects, especially ones of this scale can take a long time. At least they don't seem to be constantly asking for more money, and actually shot something, unlike some people.

I’ve seen a lot worse so I’ll give it a try if it’s ever released if only for Doug Jones, Robert Picardo, Mira Furlan and Billy Mumy.

Space Command is a terrible name! Sounds too much like Flash Gordan or Buck Rogers-ish. I like the actors for the most part, but the writing seemed too melodramatic. Put THAT in your report!

It deliberately evokes retro sci-fi like all those Commando/Captain VCR and the Star/Space Patrol/Command/Rangers/Marines series of the 1950s. Even down to the rocketships.

Yep, that was the selling point.
