Space Charter - A Star Trek TAS Parody

I've worked for festivals - this is a common practice called the 'test screener' where a nearly finished film is submitted with the understanding that tweaks and improvements have to be made. Similar to how studios do test footage as part of the proposal package. In our case, the majority of action animation was completed whereas proper lipsyncing was only done up to the halfway point (the rest being unsynced mouth flaps to demonstrate intent) and small things like blinking had yet to be added.

Apologies for the lack of updates! I've been very busy the last few weeks, but the video is now done and will be released very soon! As an aside, here's a quick commercial featuring the Space Charter gang - done in the style of 70s smoking commercials (intentional jab at how Trek never advertised cigs) and with an effect we're considering for the final cut. You'll also get to see the improved lip sync. Enjoy!

Cute.

Actually, TOS did have a cig company as a sponsor in its 3rd season, albeit Kirk never lit up.

Most SF shows of the era didn't show smoking, or of they did it was never the leads.

I'm really thrilled you enjoyed that, and that's fascinating information! Had I known that I might have done it a bit different, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Last night Space Charter made its premiere at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival, where we are privileged and honoured to announce that it won the audience's favourite picture award for its short film bracket! This is very exciting and I'm glad to see our audience liked Trek enough to understand Space Charter.

Anyways, and without further ado, Space Charter is now out!
