SOVF update

I just heard and talked to DC Fontana. She did not get any offers to have her script used in a modern game. She is asking CBS/Paramount to allow her to write a novel based on the script, AFAIR.

Thanks for the information! Since SoVF will probably never get made by Paramount, the next best thing--or in some ways an even better thing--is for the story to be made into a novel.

I think DC Fontana's story for Bridge Commander was good, but it might have been fleshed out more in a novel.

Answering the question regarding the Vulcan/Romulan split would be great, not to mention exploring Vulcan further.

And, maybe in the future fans can create a SoVF game, knowing the story, like how the EF mod Argas Effect and recent Continuing Voyages did.

There's nothing preventing Fontana from writing up a novel proposal and submitting it to Pocket Books. She's said in interviews the past five years or so that she'd love to write a Vulcan's Fury novel, and my understanding is that she's never actually talked to Pocket about doing so.

Maybe they can use the actors from "New Voyages" or wait until the cast of the next Star Trek film is hired.

why on earth cbs dvd dont use the audio clips (including Doohan. Kelley and Lenard) to make an animated flick i will never know - every tos fan on the planet would buy it and it would be a good tie in to the new film.

fontana has said that she has another new voyages in the pipeline so this may be it - they cast a sarek who's episode has subsequently been replaced, so who knows?

also, the 25th anniversary and judgement rites have been out of print for years - ive got the former but its not compatible with my pc, so would it work if someone did an animaion/video construction of the episodes? i know the midi music is naff, but my basic obsession is the fact that there is raarre trek out there that people need to see! oh, and yoou may have worked out i am not a gamer

I think it would be cool if they did a graphical update of 25th and JR and made them compatible for newer computers, but it would certainly hit only niche audience. Heck, I would settle for an update to the graphical standards of "A Final Unity," and then just update the compatibility. I had access to a computer before where I could get these games to work with Dosbox, but my own computer doesn't seem to like Dosbox, so I can't get the sound to work on it without terrible stuttering (and after having experienced it with the full cast, it's just not the same without it).
And, you know, it would be really interesting if they did SOVF with the new cast, but I'd be surprised if that actually happened. Hopefully there will be some gaming derivative of the movie, though, and hopefully it won't just be action.

Well unfortunately as was posted here before, when interplay went belly up everything that was SOVF we either wiped or binned in the big sell of that followed....sad i know... :(

indeed it is sad

but i still do that idea with 25 a and jr - maybe it could be done as a fan project?
