I genuinely can't remember when the last time I'd seen the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man film was, so I decided to go ahead and give it a rewatch, and it still stands out as one of the best comic movies of all time (despite both of its sequels eclipsing it).
The principal Starring trio of Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco still shine even all these years after-the-fact, as do Willem Dafoe, Cliff Robertson, J.K. Simmons, and Rosemary Harris.
Dafoe in particular brings a real sense of menace to the screen as both Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin, and the use of the mirror as a tool for differentiating the emergence/reveal of the latter as being a separate persona and identity from the former still works really well.
