SONY READER books!!!

One of my favorite XMA gifts was the SONY READER. It took a bit to figure out how to use it, but I did. And now I have purchased my FIRST E-book...

I bought WILLIAM SHATNER's Captain's Glory. So I will read that..

Yes, I saw books on there from some of our writers in the TREK section. I saw David Mack for sure. I am going to purchase Mack's book next. If you have a book on there let me know and i will get it too!!! Got a spread the wealth you know...

Rob

Something like 90%-95% of the Trek novels are available on Sony reader. Every author on here has most, if not all, of their books included.

So just pick a person and keep buying...

Congratulations on receiving your eReader. There are plenty Trek books from which to choose. The hardest part is deciding which ones to get without breaking the bank. Enjoy yourself!

My wife also pitched in a $100 gift card for it..

The only draw back? No light...so you cant 'read' in the dark. Maybe the upper-range ones have a light..

Rob

The old high-end models had one built into the unit itself, but this made it VERY reflective, so a bit difficult to use.

You can get a 'clip on' light that's held and bends over the reader device; this is much more useful.

The whole point of the thing is that it doesn't have a backlight.

I'm happy with mine, but I don't use it nearly as often as I should since I have so many paper books to read.

I use a Sony PRS-505 and I absolutely LOVE it! When my wife wants to sleep I just clip on a head lamp, put it to the red light and read for hours... I've woken up late for work on more than one occasion because of that! I've also spent WAY too much money on the books to date. I've had the thing since April of this year and I've put about 600 books onto it, lost track of how much money I've spent. A library in the palm of my hands is nice though.

My mother has a Sony Reader PRS-600 and I got het a Might Bright Xtraflex2 to go with it. Just $14.99 at Barnes & Nobel and Borders.

Congratulations on your new Sony. I know you'll love it. I really enjoy mine (505).

So they do sell a light for it...cool..I will go Barns/Noble. I notice that they, Barns/Noble have their own thing called the NOOK. Is the light think you are talking about made for the nook and can be used with the Sony Reader?

No Rob! The only light designed for the nook specifically is a version of the Lyra Light, which they have yet to even get in stock. There are quite a few lights that would be compatible. Check Amazon also. They have a few.

Great..Ill check it out..thanks for the heads up..

They also sell a cover with the light built in.
But the cover is a more costly solution. A Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 at $15 will do fine. That is what mom has for her reading light and it works well. Just clip it to the cover (yes, buy the ordinary cover and forget the stupid sleeve) and and you will be all set.
