Songs You Never Want to Hear Again

Really, can our little pool of "classic rock" or whatever please move on a bit? Maybe it's a consequence of media conglomerates taking over the airwaves every-freaking-where (I found the exact same radio stations in Little Rock, Arkansas, Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles) but there are certain songs I think I have reached my lifetime limit on - meaning I have heard them so often in my life that I don't need them played for me. If I want to hear them I can literally play them in my head. I truly believe there should be a five year moratorium on any of the following songs being played on the radio:

Hotel California
Stairway to Heaven
Comfortably Numb
You Shook Me All Night Long
Every Breath You Take

Just a little break, that's all I'm asking for. Even since I've abandoned regular radio for audio books in the car and Pandora at home, I cannot escape these songs. I'm not saying they're bad songs - they are simply played far too often.

Do you have any tunes like these, that you could just do with going a little while without hearing them yet again?

Carry On, My Wayward Son. by Kansas. --Christ Almighty, I could never hear this again and live my life quite happily.

And pretty much everything by Boston. So, SOOOO very tired of them now.

Don't Stop Believin'

I loved this song as a kid and wore out my tape of Escape back in the 80's, but thanks to The Sopranos, The 2005 Chicago White Sox, The Special Olympics, and so many other groups who have adopted this song, I can't stand it anymore.

As much as it pains me to say this, I'm also getting tired of some of the old Van Halen stuff (pre-Hagar days).

If I never hear "Never Gonna Give You Up" again, it'll be too soon. The song sucked ass to begin with, and Rickrolling just ran it into the ground, and then began tunneling to China.

Yeah, I liked this song a lot but I'm done with it now.

There are also a number of songs I don't want to hear again because I associate them with things in my life I don't want to be reminded of, but I won't list them all because that's boring to other people.

"Don't Stop Believin'"
"Torn"
"Like a Virgin"
"I Got a Feeling" (Please, dear Lord, not again)
"Gives You Hell"
"Macarena"
"Mambo #5"
"She Bangs"

Anything any of the American Idol kids have put out.

"Tainted Love" by Soft Cell. I hated this song the first time I heard it. I was in boarding school and everyone else in my dorm loved the song and would turn up the volume whenever it was played on the radio. It was hell.

I'm going to second the OP's list, as I love to listen to Classic Rock stations, but the aforementioned list is played so much that sometimes I want to rip the stereo from the car and throw it over a passing bridge. "You can never leave", my ass. Watch me.

That song Don't Stop Believing is from Glee

No, "Don't Stop Believin'" was written by Journey for their 1981 album "Escape".

Achy Breaky Heart

I had a girlfriend at the time whose family loved line dancing. I'll never forget being at their house and the whole family breaking out in a line dance to the song. I wanted to kill myself, and I still do 20 years later.

Hotel California
Do Wa Diddy Diddy Dum Diddy Do (don't know the name, just the horror)
Anything by Chumba Wumba (sp?)

This statement is either a hilarious satire about the mindset of certain people regarding pop culture, or a slightly disturbing example of certain people regarding pop culture.
