Some questions about the Dominion Dreadnaught class ships

How many and what kind of Federation ships does it take to equal 1 Dominion Dreadnaught? 8 Sovereign? 7 Prometheus?

Also, why wouldn't the Federation go all out and build something similar? They certainly have the industrial production capacity for it. Heck even if took one step down and looked at the Dominion Battle Ship, that thing is still twice as big as the biggest ship Starfleet has to offer.

I know that Federation isn't an empire and Starfleet was never built with conquering in mind. But still, it is in a war for its very own existence. You think the Feds would pull out all the stops.

Don't tell me size doesn't matter. If size doesn't matter, why would the Dominion built that monstrosity?

Did the Dominion build that monstrosity? The idea of a Dominion dreadnought is really just fan speculation. Xerxe1979, beat me to it.

Moving past that, you don't need to go bigger or even to the same size to defeat a large ship. The other way to do it is through numbers. Take Starfleet's response to the Borg, it wasn't to build their own "Federation cube" but to go for smaller warships and to field a battle fleet of them. In essence the argument comes down to do you put all your eggs in one basket or do you spread them out?
