So what scifi remains?

Atlantis was just put down. What scifi shows remain and what is coming out? Will scifi just be the bigtime wrestling channel with a mass smothering of reality shows? I like the paranormal, but ghosthunters is getting old. How long can they go places, jump at their own shadow, find nothing or explain everything away as hi EM fields or plumbing problems? Reality shows are a plague on the television landscape.

Stargate Universe, Dollhouse, Heroes, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Connor, Smallville and Eureka off the top of my head.

It's unclear if you're asking about SciFi channel specifically or sci fi in general. Since Hermiod highlighted sci fi in general I'll mention some new shows in the works for the SciFi channel.

1) Sanctuary -- the new Amanda Tapping show airing in the fall
2) Stargate Universe -- the new Stargate show with a movie this winter and a new series next summer
3) Warehouse 13 -- pilot is ordered, I haven't heard recent news on it
4) Caprica -- the BSG prequel. A 2 hour back-door pilot will air as a movie this year with a series order likely after that.
5) Revolution -- pilot ordered, no recent word on if/when it will air or if it will be picked up.

Check out Torchwood and Eureka-two smart, sassy series. Torchwood is in repeats on the Universal HD channel and BBC America and Eureka is on SciFi on Tuesdays. Both are worth the effort.

Eh, Torchwood was better in year 2 but it's still less fun than Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures.

Of course, such a statement is an opinion, like most of the stuff you see around here. To each their own.

since nothing much is on at the moment I've been watching Babylon 5* on Hulu since I've never watched it before

so I guess that doesn't really answer the question . . . I guess my point is if you haven't seen it before it'll be like new :D

*I just finished Babylon Squared and it was the episode that made me say: "I freakin' LOVE this show!" :D
that gag in the beginning with Sinclair, Ivanova and Garibaldi in the mess hall was hilarious!

New, catch em while you can: Fringe, Eleventh Hour, Life on Mars. Ron Moore's Virtuality is still set for midseason last I heard.

My Own Worst Enemy
and Harper's Ferry sound like they could have sf/f elements.

In the fantasy realm, there's the wonderful Pushing Daisies :D; new shows include Legend of the Seeker, True Blood and Merlin. Captain Cook's Extraordinary Alias still seems to be alive.

And Reaper will be back! Plus Supernatural, natch.
