So what is our shorthand for Discovery?

Ok, so we have TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY & ENT, sow shouldn't it be written at DIS?

I have seen ST:DIS, or much much worse ST:D and STD. (In our very own threads)... Should we not avoid those (especially the last two)?

Officially it's DSC. Since I already refer to the last two one word shows as VOY and ENT, I'm having a hard time resisting DIS.

I could stretch it another two letters for DISCO I suppose... Needs a mirror-ball shaped hull and an alien dangling a cocoa tin lid though. Bow-chick-a-wow-wow. :D

Personally I'll probably be going with DIS.

VGR was the official abbreviation for Voyager if I'm not mistaken but it didn't stick.

While VGR didn't stick with fans, I think it is the abbreviation used on all official CBS stuff.

Fans don't have to use VGR, but it will still be used.

I immediately shortened it to DIS the moment I heard about the title. Just like when I use VOY, I think people here will get the idea of the series I'm talking about if I use that.

I am thinking it did NOT stick because the main antagonist in TMP was V'Ger... so VGR doesn't make much sense.

But since the movies and TV are basically separate, it looks like someone in corporate is ignorant of the movies by pushing VGR

It has been abbriveated VGR officially since at least 1999, the previous Encyclopedia edition used it

Though according to a quick google search says the official Star Trek website used VOY in 2006

I honestly don't think it is ignorant at all

Personally I prefer VOY, but if people want to use VGR I don't care, their opinion

I'll be using DSC for discovery
