So Streetfighter IV looks pretty darn good.

I have to say I wasn't sure if I was ready for another Streetfighter game, but this looks strangely fresh, not to mention very purdy. I just hope it isn't a full $60, I don't think fighting games have the pull they once did and publishers and hardware manufacturers need to adopt a tiered pricing strategy with software.

I never got into the Street Fighter games. Was more of a Mortal Kombat fan. Still might pick this one up if the positive buzz keeps up and it turns out not to be another crap fighting game. Poor Mortal Kombat, it went downhill years ago and never quite made it back.

Cool pic. Like Teelie, I prefered Mortal Kombat (I even rewatched the first movie just the other day), but this looks like it might be very cool.

Yeah, the triangle cup he's wearing raised a big :wtf: with me.

Game looks good though. I hope the game lives up to its predecessors.

I do like the "it's 3d but we are trying to make it look 2d" look of it...

    Yeah.. i'm intrigued too.

I like the visual style.. now one has to wait for the first in-game videos to see how it all plays out. I'm happy that they chose not to go the full 3D route.. there are already many good 3D beat em ups so something rare has a good chance of standing out (as if the title wasn't enough :p)

:guffaw: Yeah. If they didn't spend so many years remaking & rereleasing Street Fighter II, they'd already be up to Street Fighter XX by now. There's actually a really funny Angry Video Game Nerd rant about that and other confusing sequel nomenclature on YouTube @ http://youtube.com/watch?v=OEVzPCY2T-g

I thought I'd bump up this thread instead of starting a new one ...

One word about this game, which I recently got on PS3: Isuckatthecontrols. Yup. Isuckatthecontrols. I remember as a teenager watching other kids play the arcade version of Streetfigher II and later Streetfighter II Alpha and Streetfighter III. I was more of an observer than a player, so I never learned any of the combat moves. And, nope, plain button-mashing just ain't gonna cut it, especially when competing with the CPU.

The graphics quality isn't what I initially expected. I was thinking of a more refined 3D image, like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or other PS3 games. Instead, it's like watching a "3D anime" movie, with characters having an "oil painting" kind of look. I'm not saying I'm disappointed by it. Overall, it's a promising game.

    Four New Characters:

    Abel - The amnesiac Frenchman

    Rufus - The fat clown

Crimson Viper - Special government agent

    El Fuerte - Mexican luchador

Yeah it does. Except I'm going to wait for the PC version. I don't have a PS3 and the 360's pad is terrible for 2D fighters. Besides, the PC version will be cheaper, have the best graphics (for anyone with the hardware, obviously), and most of the extra online content is going to be free. There's also the potential for add-on mods. Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to be out until Summer.

Also, I have a home-brew joystick I use for SF, MK, etc. on MAME that's really the cat's meow.

After 14 months, I think a new thread would have been OK.

As for fighting games, especially games like Street Fighters and Mortal Kombats, and old school Killer Instinct, I'll always be a fan of a good joystick over a controller pad.

The only fighter where I like the pad would be Marvel vs Capcom 2.

How many of you are IN-DE-STRUCTIBLE?! Ah, that theme song is stuck in my head... because I'm IN-DE-STRUCTIBLE!

I need to install an octagonal gate onto my Hori stick unfortunately. And even then, I have no idea if I'll ever find a perfect controller to use with the game. Sadly, I'm relying on the analog stick on the 360 controller. :(

I unfortunately started with MK and have just the worst fucking time trying to throw a proper shoryuken or dragon punch consistently which has always kept me from getting in the ring with the SF games. Strangely, the only one I was ever any good at was Skullomania in the EX games. I'm totally not stoked to find out how insanely better the online freaks are than me.

My proudest achievement in Street Fighter II was being able to pull off a Hadoken about one in every five tries. I just really sucked that bad. I guess it's just not a series for me.

Have you ever thought of making your own. All you need are some decent soldering skills, a cheap PS2 controller to disembowel, an enclosure, and a good 8-point stick and six buttons.

It's really not that hard and there are FAQs/HOWTOs galore on the subject out there.

If you want a gamepad, there's really nothing better than one of those Sega Saturn USB pads. I guess they've been selling like crazy on ebay this week. I have two and it's almost temping enough to sell one.

Honestly, the trick is to get the speed of twisting the joystick quick enough, you have a very short amount of time to do it right and do the full motion or it just turns into a fireball thing.

It took a while for me to master years ago, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.

Now mastering those el cheapo 64+ combos in Killer Instinct was a completely different story, those things were tricky as fuck.
