So I'm a *bit* behind...where to start back up?

Fleet Captain
I stopped reading Trek novels in 2007. A combination of grad school, full-time career, and a new city led me to just not read for pleasure anymore. Now that I am finished, getting married, and have a lot more free time on my hands...I'd like to start back up.

I pretty much read everything before then. My favorite as of 2007 was the DS9 relaunch. I also read the VOY relaunch, but I think that stopped back in '04 or so and has since re-started. I was also reading Titan and Vanguard. I pretty much stopped reading New Frontier, and I think I am okay with that. Last I know Shelby got her own command, so that was a long time ago. ALso stopped with the SCE, I liked them a lot early on, but it was just too daunting to keep up with, then they sort of changed the title. I'm fine with not keeping up with either of those.

Vanguard--The only series I am somewhat current on, I have all the novels and have been reading them on vacation over the years. No worries here.

DS9: Unity was the last novel I read...and I honestly don't remember much, nor where I placed it to re-read it!

VOY: Spirit Walk.

TNG: Resistance. Don't remember much except a new Vulcan and Janeway being kinda rude, as I read on Wikipedia.

TITAN: Orions Hounds is the last one I read. I think I read this...but again not so sure. I remember the other 2 novels well oddly.

Now I realize a lot has been thrown toegether to form a more coherent timeframe (ie TNG, VOY, DS9, Titan) all together (i.e Destiny). That makes sense in a way, but I guess DS9 relaunch has sort of suffered from that as I read in another thread. It's funny I seem to remember a lot from say A Time To series of TNG or the DS9 relaunch, but a lot of stuff is hazy.

So where should I start? Wikipedia has helped me sort of get the picture, but I don't want to inadvertently ruin too much. I already know the Borg kill a lot of people and Janeway dies...I think that's enough spoilers! Thanks for the help.

Cool. So, the rest of the DS9 relaunch is:

Worlds of Deep Space Nine, books 1-3
Warpath
Fearful Symmetry
The Soul Key
The Never-Ending Sacrifice

As you probably remember, that all takes place many years before the rest of the continuity nowadays. After that, DS9 time-jumps to join everyone else in the Typhon Pact miniseries, being published now.

Here's the recommended reading order for everything after the A Time To... series; just pick up wherever you've left off with everything:

TNG: Death In Winter
Titan: Taking Wing
Titan: The Red King
Articles Of The Federation
Titan: Orion's Hounds
TNG: Resistance
TNG: Q & A
TNG: Before Dishonor
Titan: Sword Of Damocles
TNG: Greater Than The Sum
Destiny trilogy
TNG: Losing The Peace
A Singular Destiny
VOY: Full Circle (this is the first VOY book since Spirit Walk, so you're good there)
VOY: Unworthy
Titan: Over A Torrent Sea
Titan: Synthesis
Typhon Pact miniseries (being published now)

It sounds like you plan to read everything, but if you don't, don't miss Worlds of Deep Space Nine, Before Dishonor, Destiny, Full Circle and Unworthy. SCE was cancelled, so keep in mind it probably wouldn't take too many more books before you read all of them anyways.

If you're going to skip some, I'd also recommend not skipping Greater Than The Sum, it does alot to set up the events of Destiny. It also does a really good job of recapping the other Post-Nemesis TNG books, so if you do skip any of them then GTTS would be even more important.

^^^Listen to them. They speak the truth :)

Destiny and the Voyager re-relaunch are top-ten material in my opinion of what I've read.

Indeed -- I read Death in Winter, then skipped to Greater than the Sum and was fully caught up. I'll probably go back and read the Q book, but GTTS allowed me to proceed to Destiny before year's end.

Worlds of Deep Space Nine, books 1-3
Warpath
Fearful Symmetry <--- Looks like I'll start here then. Unless I find my Warpath book to reread.
The Soul Key
The Never-Ending Sacrifice

Seems like DS9 is constantly moving around!

TNG: Death In Winter
Titan: Taking Wing
Titan: The Red King

Titan: Orion's Hounds <<-- I'll pick back up here. I know I've read those four above. I remember Death in Winter and Articles of the Federation reasonably well. Again, if I know where they are I'll try to re-read them. They could have been left at my dorm or mom's house, who knows.
TNG: Resistance
TNG: Q & A
TNG: Before Dishonor
Titan: Sword Of Damocles
TNG: Greater Than The Sum

VOY: Full Circle (this is the first VOY book since Spirit Walk, so you're good there)

Thanks everyone. I am a little wary of everything being in the same time, Titan, DS9, etc. It seems cool at first, but I guess each 'series' will lose its distinctness? I'm excited to start back up, I have a lot of vacations and my honeymoon this year. A good 4-5 weeks of vacation time to chew through some books and a $200 Amazon credit for selling my grad school books

I don't think they've lost their destinctiveness. Keep in mind Enterprise, TItan and Voyager spend most of their time in different parts of the galaxy.

I'd DEFINITELY recommend re-reading Warpath. That book, Fearful Symmetry, and Soul Key are all one narrative event, really.

And as someone else said, WYLB > Avatar was only 4 months, I think. The time-jump after Never-Ending Sacrifice is a pretty big deal.
