SNOW DAY!

Maestro

The winter storm that walloped Wisconsin last night not only closed my school early yesterday, but caused it to be completely closed today. Now, I could be a good teacher and go in and do some work (I only live a block away), but I don't wanna!

What should I do with my unexpected vacation day?

Go to work! You're only a block away!
There are only two pressing items right now ... sending the Press Release for our concert to the paper and getting the Honors Band music ready (I have one piece yet to prepare).

I discovered that my school's email server had all the necessary info stored on it for me to telecommute on item #1, so the Press Release could be sent with me at home in my PJs. That's done.

As for #2, I can go in tonight when I'm sick of watching Wall*E with my daughter. That'll take an hour. Or I can go in an hour early tomorrow and finish.

So. I'm free. Cocoa and movies? Footprints in the snow? Finish my book? Spam up TrekBBS? Finish the Xmas decorations? Get drunk? Sky's the limit!

Play with your daughter in the snow all day. She will then be very, very tired and go to sleep early.

Then get drunkl and work on a brother or sister for her. ;)

So, today's Snow Day was spent doing the following:

1.) Sent my Concert Press Release to the paper.
2.) Finished the tome I was reading.
3.) Put up the Nativity Set.
4.) Snuggled my daughter.
5.) Put up more general Christmas decorations.

A day well spent.

I was about to call you a kiddie for having a snow day, until I read on and realized you were a teacher :). The only other place you get "snow days" in this country as a professional is in D.C., because flurries tend to cause the entire government to completely shut down. lol.

Being from Ohio I tend to go to work anyway.

Enjoy your day off :)

No day is wasted when you can get some things done that you have been putting off and you still get to veg out.

Lucky bastard. I'd kill for a snow day right now, and preferably a snow week. These last two weeks before Christmas break are an exercise in complete futility, with both kids and staff completely distracted.

And yet, in Buffalo, the land of meteorological hell, my district has yet to have a snow day...of course, my school only closes if there's 4 feet of snow, and/or, horrible driving consitions with a temperature below 0. They don't mind us standing in single digit weather waiting for a bus.

Hope you enjoyed your day off though.
