Smithsonian Episode?

Over on TrekMovie they have a clip of an old "To Tell the Truth" game show with Gene Roddenberry. The host mentioned that TOS was the only show to have an episode in the Smithsonian - which episode was it?

According to "The Making of Star Trek," the Smithsonian requested a copy of "Where No Man Has Gone Before."

It was the pilot film that sold the series.

The version at the Smithsonian, BTW, is the pilot as it was originally presented to NBC - not the way it runs as part of the "Star Trek" series. It's a little longer, has different credits and opens very differently:

What I recall seeing at the National Air and Space Museum circa 1976, was a silent 16mm loop of the Enterprise breaching the energy barrier scene. This graced a small display case of props including a phaser.
I never got a picture of this, as I probably burned up an entire roll of film on the Big E herself!
Did the Smithsonian ever have a Trek exhibit prior to the opening of the NASM?

I saw where no man has gone before at the smithsonian in 1978. i also saw the enterprise itself hanging from the ceiling right when you walked into the area where it was displayed. i think the enterprise is now down by the gift shop . I saw it in the early '90s after it had been repainted. It made you like the ship more but did take away from it being original. It is still a god idea that the effects of the original show are being redone. while quaint, the original show's opticals were always disapointing. without the colorfuilness of teh original cast to make up the shortcomings of the show through fistfights and sharp dialogue the original show would never have succeeded.

The Enterprise model was repainted before it first went on display at the Smithsonian - all flat primer grey, with the exception of the top surface of the saucer. It had arrived at the museum's storage facility in poor shape and the nacelle domes, main sensor dish and the paint job were all done by a contractor with no apparent regard whatever for accuracy.
