Smallvilleis adding yet another DC villain. Odessa Rae has been cast as the Silver Banshee, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Rae (Leverage) will first appear as Siobhan McDougal, aka the Silver Banshee, in Episode 16, "Escape."
The Banshee is a vengeful spirit of a fallen Gaelic heroine. She's accidentally released from the underworld, and takes out her vengeance at an unassuming country bed and breakfast. Guess who just happens to be staying at the B&B? Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling).

Great, ghosts. Just what Smallville needs.

Silver Banshee is great, I am glad they are using in Smallville. I was hoping that more Superman villains would show up this year other than Zod. So this year we got Metallo and now Silver Banshee...I consider Toyman last years villain.

What's wrong with ghosts? Silver Banshee has been haunting SUPERMAN comics for decades now.

Here's hoping we get the Spectre or the Phantom Stranger one of these days . . . .

^Am I the only one who remembers previous attempts at the supernatural on this show ? "Spell" ? "Thirst" ? Season four ?

Okay, the Lana is a reincarnated French witch stuff made no sense, but there's nothing inherently wrong with throwing some ghosts and vampires into SMALLVILLE. It's all just silly comic book stuff.

Lemme guess...She's gonna talk with an o'rish accent. original...
I know, right? I mean, she's just a character who grew up in that region all her life and is from a family that personified that region for generations. She should TOTALLY have, like, a Russian accent or something instead.

I think the point is that there's nothing wrong with her having an actual Irish accent, if the actress can actually do a convincing one. The history of Irish accents in American television is not exactly a stellar one, now is it ?

See Heroes, season two.

Problem with Smallville's one-episode villains, they appear onscreen for like 10 minutes, because shows are short and 90% of the show is Clark's conflicted feelings with the obligatory last 10 minutes so often being 'shipper crapola (with music from....Five for Fighting, the Plain White Tees....)

Nah, the villain's female - Clark will spend at least 20% of the episode chained up with his shirt off.

Drawing a blank, who was o'rish in Season Two? Accents are hard. I've heard the ones used by Hiro and Ando aren't that good (Ando's being pretty bad) The one used by Hugh Laurie on "House" sets my teeth on edge. Phil Glenister in "Demons" makes me want to change the channel.

Peter spent several episodes in Ireland at the start of season two amongst several American actors doing bad Irish accents - oh, and Enterprise's Dominic Keating doing an even worse one.

Why do I imagine it being similar to that episode of TNG where Picard and co visit the Scottish planet and Beverly falls for the ghost?
