Slimline DVD sets for Region 2???

I've been meaning to get ENT Seasons 3 & 4 on DVD for about the last three years now, but have just never got round to it
But over the last couple of years the Region 2 DVDs of TNG, DS9, and VOY have all been re-released from their original bulky plastic boxes, into new slimline DVD sets. And at a lot cheaper price too

So I'm thinking maybe I'll wait untill this happens with Enterprise and save myself some cash, but does anyone know if and when this may or may not be happening? Anyone heard anything?


The DS9 ones were released in April 2007, and Voyager ones in September 2007, so I would hope the Enterprise re-release's should be soon...

I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm holding off on buying the dvds for now myself to see if they are released in the slimmer packaging.

It may happen at some point, but given Enterprise was far from popular, I don't see CBS rushing to spend the money on putting out new cheaper versions of the discs when anyone who wants the original issues can still go and stump up £50 per season.

I would grab the old box sets while you can. As has been mentioned in other threads, they are practically giving them away these days online and in stores.

BUT... in looking I saw the HMV website has the slimline sets for all 4 seasons listed for 26 May 2008, priced at £26.99 each

Its lucky the U.K gets slimline sets. Here in the U.S. we're stuck with the bulky gray ones that cost about $60. Paramount is so stupid.

The Gray sets are far less than $60 now-you can get these online or at big box stores for about $45, which is a good deal any way you look at it.

Not when other Sci-Fi & Action-Adventure shows are selling their DVD season sets for $19.99 to $36.99 at those same retailers.

The only thing I see that cheap are Stargate series, which were never priced in the same range as Trek stuff.

Ah excellent! Only two months away!

The only thing is, if we wait a bit longer after that they'll eventually go down to around £15 a season. Just like the TNG, DS9, & VOY slimlines are now, you can get the TNG seasons at £15 each in Tesco for example.
I'll probably get Season 3 when it comes out, but by the time I get to Season 4 maybe the price will have dropped again

Hmm, well HMV is still listing these as being released in 3 weeks (no artwork yet) but I can't find them listed anywhere else, like Amazon.co.uk or Play.com for example

I've never actually handled the ENT DVD sets, so I can't say one way or the other. My frustration comes from the lack of slimline case availability in R1 in general.

^ I agree. I'm not a huge fan of marketing plastic. And this is terrible to say, but I tossed mine because they were difficult to keep and still have access to my favorite DVDs. Seems like a choice would be great with some slight price modifications?

Well that was a waste of time waiting. The HMV website now lists the ENT slimline sets with the info "Sorry this title is deleted"
Idiots!

Guess we won't be getting them after all, at least for time being...

A Dutch Star Trek site has an image of the packaging for Season 1 slimline. The first of those release dates seem to have passed us by though.

Whoa, cool cover (if its for real)

With only 4 seasons I was wondering how it would work with who would appear along side Johnny Archer on the sets.
As we see T'Pol is Season 1.
Maybe have Hoshi & Phlox for 2, Trip for 3, and Reed & Mayweather for 4
