Vanguard spin-off Seekers charges ahead with the second of two back-to-back installments this month, following on from last month's Second Nature. Point of Divergence is written by authors Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore, who of course also penned many installments of the original Vanguard saga. Here is a look back at Mr. Ward's own announcement of Seekers back in August of last year, including his memories of the new series' inception. The official street date for Point of Divergence is August 26th.

Blurb time:

The second novel set in The Original Series/Vanguard universe…

The Taurus Reach. Once the conquered realm of a powerful alien species, this region remains largely shrouded in mystery even as it brims with potential for exploration and colonization. The Federation has sent in two of its finest starships on a quest to uncover the secrets it may yet hold...

The Tomol are a primitive civilization occupying a lone island on a remote world. Their culture is an enigma, centered on every member’s commitment to a painful, fiery self-sacrifice upon reaching maturity. But one of their clan has shunned this obligation, triggering a transformation into a new, powerful life form. Answering the distress call of the U.S.S. Sagittarius—which has crashed on the planet following a fierce battle with the Klingons—Captain Atish Khatami and the crew of the Starship Endeavour must now attempt a rescue mission…even as they are locked in battle with the evolving, increasingly malevolent Tomol who, if allowed to escape their home world, pose an imminent threat to the entire galaxy!

Will we have a fancy cast list, as David did with Second Nature?

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

Mostly, right now, I'm curious about

some of the tensions between the crew on Endeavour, hinted towards at the end of Seekers 1. And the new Chief Engineer.

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

I'm surprised we haven't gotten a cast list for the second book yet.

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

About 40 pages in..... Very fast paced already, hadn't even realized I was 40 pages in already. :D

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

I can't wait to get this book and find out what happens in part 2 of the Seekers series! Especially with Sagitarius and Endeavors crew versus the Klingons and the Tomol.

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

No copies at my B&N and my Amazon copy has not shipped? Anyone else have this problem?

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

I got my book today and over at Trek.fm they have a podcast interview with David Mack discussing the Vanguard and seekers books. It's a great interview and discussion of the Seeker novels.:techman:

My copy arrived from Amazon yesterday (Tuesday). My local B&N still has no copies as of this afternoon.

Mine was here waiting for me when I returned from my trip, so I'll start it tonight most likely.

Re: SKRS #2: Point of Divergence by Ward&Dilmore Review Thread (Spoile

Really liked them both, nice to see the Vanguard story continuing [especially knowing where it will lead in the future] and the TOS feel is just right... this is going to be a fun series.

Are we sure Lerax is Edoan, and not Triexian?
