"Mark gets the sign, the wind and the pitch here it is... swung, fly ball deep left center, Grissom on the run... Yes! Yes! Yes! The Atlanta Braves have given you a championship! Listen to this crowd! A mob scene on the field. Wohlers gets 'em one, two, three. A couple of fans rushing on the field. The Atlanta Braves have brought the first championship to Atlanta!"

Longtime Braves announcer Skip Caray, son of legend Harry Caray, died in his sleep on Sunday at his home in Atlanta.

I've been listening to him for many, many years. He's helped me through so many long drives. RIP.

Braves broadcaster Skip Caray has died

Long time Braves TV and radio broadcaster Skip Caray died on Sunday in his sleep. Read more.

I'm a long time fan of his, having grown up listening to him, Pete Van Wieren, Don Sutton, and Joe Simpson on TBS. Embarrassingly, until I learned about his passing this morning, I had no idea Skip Caray was Harry Caray's son. :o

Rest in peace, Skip. :(

Re: Braves broadcaster Skip Caray has died

Being a lifelong Braves fan, this really hurts. When I first heard the news this morning, I felt absolutely terrible. Not that the two are connected, but with the bad season the Braves were having, this felt like a punch in the gut after taking a bruising beating.

I can only pray for the family and for him.

Re: Braves broadcaster Skip Caray has died

Growing up with the Braves and TBS, I was saddened when I heard this. He was one of a kind with his sarcastic and dry humor. He really made Brave games tolerable when they were awful.

The voice of the Braves is gone, RIP Skip
