An alien pendant, which gives its wearer the power to control others, is stolen.

Part 1.
CBBC: Monday 03 Nov. 1715-1745
BBC 1: Monday 10 Nov. 1635-1705

Part 2.
CBBC: Monday 10 Nov. 1715-1745
BBC 1: Monday 17 Nov. 1635-1705

just watched this on the iPlayer, no sign of that annoying CBBC DOG (think I might watch this on there from now on)

anyways, considering Sarah Jane isnt around, the episode held together quite well, it is good to see Clive in a domestic setting, however you have to wonder how come Luke his best mate knows so little about him.

Meanwhile the episode continues to make it clear that Doctor Who & Eastenders are not in the same verse, well almost Paul Trueman turns up as Paul Lynger, they could have changed his name at least.

I think the episode does a wonderful job with Cylde meeting his dad, and I guess he was just trying to show off to his dad, understandable but he should know better than to tell his dad the truth. For what its worth I think the pendant was calling out to him, rather than it just being a simple case of him stealing it, and its quite possible the user is influenced by it, but I am going to be very interested to see what he did with it in Part 2.

A Dalek reference cool, I guess the Daleks will never show up in SJA, but I would love to have that happen.

Ahhh, now thats more like it. Definate improvement over last weeks weak effort.

But you'd think Clyde would know better than to blab so easily about his 'work'. Lets hope Sarah Jane doesn't find out.

Yes!!!!!!!! Finally, a reference to the daleks! The dalek invasion was probably one of the most significant events in the (fictional) earth's history. It's about time it got a small shout-out.

Although the way Clyde's father said "those dalek things," makes me think that once again the general population believes the event was a hoax or some other phenomena.

Remember in "Turn Left" when we were saying "Where's the doctor?" and then there was "midnight" the following week with no Donna to replace the usual "no doctor as well as no companion" episodes they'd had the previous years to shuffle productions and film two episodes simultaneously....

Is that what's happening here?

After the kids have their time in the spotlight, are we going to have a completely Sarah Jane adventure with no spotty little tykes dragging the content down into the asinine? Then again, really, theses brats are only a couple years... "months" younger than Rose or Jo Grant when they started.

TPTB are going hard at it to renovate/reinvent/reinvigourate Clyde. Even in so as much to say that he was only a complete twat last year because he was acting out from his father ditching the family... Next thing y'know, once we start thinking of this kid as having at least two dimensions he's going to... Crap on a cracker, they're not upgrading him so well so that a relationship might be possible between him and Rani? Not that there's much chemistry between the two of them, but her babar hates him and that counts for a lot usually.

His best line has to be "I decide when I'm funny"

God help us, but this is the year of Clyde.

I think so yes, I think the next story is mustly Sarah Jane & Luke.

this felt like the weakest episode so far for me, guess I'm just not big on soap opera bits, and Clyde beleiving his dad over Rani and Luke just didn't feel right.

Interested to see where this goes next week though

Best episode so far - Rani and Clyde's families are way better than Maria's.

It's interesting that here the domestic stuff works, because it's pitched at just the right level to matter to the target audience - and so it works and is more watchable and believable than anything we saw from the bloody Tyle family in DW...

Oh, and I guess we're now post Journey's End, as Clyde's dad immediately mentioned "those Dalek things" as an example of aliens.

Part two actually felt more like Torchwood-lite rather than DW-lite, but was still good enough to make this the best story of season 2 so far - which is a great relief considering it's been getting weaker by the episode for the past four weeks.

One thing though - when Clyde threw the pendant into the river, surely his mum should remember eveything he just got her to forget...?

The lines about Sarah's parents were an obvious hook for a future episode, and, sure enough, it's next week with the return of the Trickster and the Graske...

right part two, I think the resolution of Cyldes dad was a bit easy, and its a shame they even needed Sarah Jane for it, would have been nice if Rani or Luke had worked it out.

Nice to see Maria again, however I do wonder how it is ANYONE can hack into the UNIT website, seriously should it be that easy?

As for his mother remembering, yeah you have a point she should remeber it now, but I like that its still there future use.

They have been hinting about Sarah Janes parents all series, but it does seem like its going to be a good story.

Man, is Sarah Jane the most forgiving woman on the planet or what?

Surely at least a Gibb's style smack-on-the-back-of-the-head was in order?

I actually liked the second episode better than the first. Some not too subtle hints about how Clyde might have turned out without Sarah Jane, Luke and co's influence...which seems a bit insulting to his mum who seemed quite capable (not the usual Ne Who harridan anyway!)

Lonemagpie makes a v good point about the pendant though!

Whae does you know who show up?

I wouldn't quite put it at excellent, but it was nice to see a different side to Clyde with that ending, and it was good to see Maria and her dad again.

Armed with a sonic weapon, dressed up in a nurse uniform, sure a realistic nurse uniform rather than a dirty nurse uniform, but Sarah Jane went on a Bug hunt... Crikey! That's so torchwood!

A short fall to the ground broke the amulet?

I doubt the fracker is impact resistant to a stray wind or the foot falls of blow flies on an exploratory expedition?

Insanity.

The minimal amount of force required to inactivate that talisman and Sarah Jane uses minus a couple dimensions of pop psychology called "real feelings" to ... Hey! Butters did the same thing in the Imagination land Trilogy when the Terrorists were trying to destroy the wall between the good imaginary character and the bad...

The Mayor "That was you plan to stop them?"

Butters: "Yeah, a nice little heart felt speech."

The Mayor: "That's fu###g stupid."

The fall didn't break it, Clyde used it afterwards, I assumed it was Clyde's dad relinquishing it's powers that stopped it working.

I think so yes, I think the next story is mustly Sarah Jane & Luke.

Actually the main reason is that this episode was filmed at the same time as "The Stolen Earth"/"Journey's End", which featured lots of Sarah Jane.

I was annoyed at the conclusion of Paul's character. Usually when a minority actor from EastEnders turns up, they're quickly dispatched by the Daleks. He even mentioned them by name! Imagine my disappointment.

I confess I had not considered that, are you sure?
