Even though DS9 was such a good series, Sisko never really took on the roll of being the emissary. I feel like so much could have been explored with him as a religious leader at least in the mirror universe.

In all honesty, the mirror universe Sisko was poorly written, as he lacked character and purpose. However, I always wished that the MU Sisko was a religious zealot and extremist. An evil religious Sisko that took on the roll of the emissary and really took advantage of it. I feel that it would have been a good plot for the DS9 MU

How would Mirror Sisko have become the Emissary in the first place? I thought the MU people were unaware of the wormhole and hadn't had any dealings with the wormhole entities/prophets.

That's correct. That's why I I wish the DS9 MU would have been different.

It means the Wormhole aliens aren't linear in the sense of time, but are limited to each universe, rather than existing in all of them. Which limits them quite a lot actually, there are billions of versions of them, and Sisko, all unconnected.

In the novels IIRC Sisko is supposed to be emissary in every universe.

In the mirror universe he doesn't really have the oppurtunity however. The terrans are enslaved and under the boot heel. And Sisko is almost a collaborationist doing work for the Intendant collecting "dues" and probably doing other things she demands. It isn't something he enjoys obviously but he is in a way better situation than the terrans processing ore.

He then joins the Terran rebellion and is killed before he ever gets to meet the prophets.

The whole set up of the Mirror Verse ensures that it is unlikely for Sisko to become the emissary.

Him being a religious extremist might work in a parallel universe where say the Terran empire survived or something.

I wonder if there are mirror prophets, or, since the prophets that we know are outside of normal space and time, they are the one and only one set of prophets for all universes.

I believe that is the case in the Beta Canon-the prophets are the same "people" in every universe. They exist outside of the multiverse and are distinct from it.

So your saying the prophets in addition to being non-linear, they're also non-linear to parallel universes? Meaning they remain the same regardless of time and/or universe.

Maybe him lacking purpose is part of the mirror "oppositeness"
The mirror one seems like such a flyaway crazy airhead.
The real Sisko seems like he could be a nut but he managed to channel it into a strength.

Sisko in the mirror verse is a man on a leash. And he isn't even the most moral of figures given what mirror Jennifer Sisko says about him.

Perhaps he was supposed to become emissary but his premature death(with the influence of prime verse people) resulted in it not happening.

This is what happened in the novelverse events led to his premature death and so the prophets took Iliana Ghemor as a replacement emissary(reluctantly though).

But he isn't a fanatic in the mirror verse he is probably more cynical, materialistic, and craven.

    Qualities prime Sisko doesn't have.

The same could be said about all DS9 MU characters & episodes. Across the board, DS9's MU is a fubar. Adding your idea to the MU Sisko would just drag down your idea to the level of the rest of the MU, which is to say, a really bad dinner theater comedy.

Your idea would be interesting if they used it with the real/main universe Sisko though.

As it could be argued that finding the Celestial Temple was what gave "our" Sisko purpose again after having lost Jennifer, there is a certain "mirror" aspect to the notion that the MU Sisko never finds the Temple and consequently never really has a sense of purpose after having "lost" Jennifer until Our Heroes crossover and he finds some motivation again.

Sisko in the mirroverse doesn't really have much an apparent purpose in life before he joins the Terran rebellion. His untimely death shows I think he never found his true destiny. Something the novelverse elucidates on given the Iliana Ghemor emissary plot line.

That could work. He could have been painted as an opportunist who doesn't really believe in these extremist ideals personally, but is in the movement for the opportunity for power and riches it gives him, exerting some magnetic influence over the masses. There are enough real world examples of this.

Drawback is that to do this (paint him) well, you would have to spend a lot more time in that dismal mirror universe than I would care for.

Then again, we already had Dukat and Kai Winn in the prime universe.

Somehow I got to thinking that the Bajorans of the MU were all worshipers of the Pah wraiths, but I guess there's no real evidence for that. (Is there?)

The way I interpreted it was Bajor in the MU was far more secular-given their apparent wealth and strong political position in the Klingon-Cardassian alliance.

Both mirror Bereil(sp?) and Intendant Kira seem skeptical and rather cynical regarding Bajoran religion.
