Simon & Schuster to release ST titles in eBook omnibi?

So, I browsed through S&S' website and found this:

Beside the fact that I don't know how legit those are (no cover image a month before the release), the only one where it would really make sense to get it as an ominibi is the Destiny one since there you'll have a decent price advantage, but with the others you safe only one dollar or so in contrast to buying the single eBooks.

I had skipped the Destiny listing because it is so much older than the other two.

If it gets me reprint royalties, I'm all for it. Although Forgotten History is a bit of an odd choice there since it's not quite as standalone as the other two, tying in to both Ex Machina and Watching the Clock. (Though it has a bit of a nod to The Rings of Time too.)

Oh, and the plural is "omnibuses." Omnibus is a plural adjective in Latin -- the suffix is the dative plural -ibus, not -us -- so it's only a singular noun in English (short for "omnibus volume"), and thus is pluralized per English rules.

I know that was debated in the past, but I couldn't remember which one was the right one. Omnibi just looks way nicer than omnibuses, so I chose that one taking the 50/50 chance (and failing).

I can't alter the thread title any more, so a mod will have to change it.

Wow. To me "omnibi" looks and sounds horribly wrong. Keep in mind that the word "bus" is short for "omnibus [vehicle]," and the plural of "bus" is "buses," not "bi." (Just imagine the confusion if it were. "Hey, do those guys drive buses?" "They're bi." "I'm not asking about their personal life!" Or: "Do they drive bi?" "No, they pull over at the bus stop.")

If I were to guess, I'd bet they were just throwing several ebooks together as one file and not doing much more. I hope I'm not right but I bet I am. LucasBooks (Random House) has released a handful of these ebook omnibus editions like the over the past few months. They were literally the same ebooks, all with their own covers, title pages, etc. all crammed together under a new (cheap) cover. Nothing really to offer anyone that already owned the separate books but a very slight savings to any first-time buyers.

Now, the one that catches my eye is the Destiny omnibus. Is this an ebook version of David's recently released and slight improved and updated version or is this just the three original ebooks crammed together in one file like I mentioned above?

I guess we'll see. Let's all hope for the best.

We still haven't heard about any trade paperbacks for next year. Although I'd rather see more Myriad Universes, or something themed like Seven Deadly Sins.

I thought the TPBs were pretty much dead, after The Romulan War's second volume was demoted to MMPB (despite the size).

While that is a shame, I feel that a lot of the Myriad Universes stories we got could've easily been individual MMPB novels (especially in the latest volume). I just hope that it continues in some form, even if it's relegated to eBook only releases.

The prices on Amazon are a lot lower than that - $14.69 for the newer two, and although the Destiny collection is not on .com yet, the price on .co.uk is £6.99 (viz. £8.99 for the other two). For comparison, Allegiance in Exile, out at the same time, is $8.09/£4.99. Your e-book retailer may employ similar discounts.

That must be regional pricing - Amazon is showing me $23 in the US.
