A bit has been made of Eleventh Hour's similarity to Smith and Jones-a companion intro story featuring an escaped prisoner being chased by intergalactic police. But it's not really the first Doctor Who story to 'copy' a storyline.
Perhaps the most blatant example from the classic series is "Rememberance of the Daleks/Silver Nemesis"-what makes this interesting is that both stories are from the exact same season!
Both stories-produced for the anniversary season-feature the Doctor dealing with 'unfinished business'-Gallifreyan weapons he left behind in previous incarnations. Through trickery, he practically gives the weapon to one of his mechanical enemies, but the Doctor has pre-programmed it to destroy the enemy. Both stories hint a bit that there is more to the Doctor than just being a rogue time lord. Both stories also feature neo-fascists.
Any other examples people would like to add?
