Side note about Blackest Night (some spoilers)

Well, Zombie Jean Loring taunted Ray Palmer with his failures, and reveled in Nekron's plans and backstory. Zombie Doctor Light shows up to fight his good counterpart, taunts her about her kids, and enhances his utter slimebucket rep by abusing the salted remains of Gehenna, freshly killed girlfriend of the Jason Rusch Firestorm. Yeah.

They were both destroyed. To DC I say--keep them both dead and inactive for as long as possible. While I know the revised Light and the off-kilter Loring emerged from a breakthrough series, they have now gone IMHO from obscure one-note characters to well-known one-note characters. Ever since ID Crisis, their appearances are Light rampaging 'not-a-joke' and acting pedo, while mad Jean laughs about what she did and corrupts.

I know its been a short time even by RL standards, but these are two characters I could stand not to see again for a much longer time than is standard.

The better solution would be to retcon it so that they were actually clones all along and have the real Light and Loring escape from the clutches of some supervillain.

I thought the Black Lanterns actually *are* clones, i.e. not the real dead characters they appear to be? Didn't one of the black rings say something like "Memory download complete" when taking somebody over?

In any case, it seems clear that too many people have died and been turned into Black Lanterns for them to simply fade away after this is all over. They're not going to really be dead, probably. Too many characters will be gone if they do.

The problem isn't that they were raised as zombies with gaudy rings. The problem is that they were both victims of brutal character-rape in the Identity Crisis storyline (which is almost ironic given what they supposedly did to Sue Dibny).

The only way to salvage the situation is to retcon Identity Crisis out of existence, hence my suggestion that they were replaced with clones before the events of Identity Crisis.

And Sue should still be alive, too.

Some doubtless will be restored to life. I'm not arguing wholesale against ID; it was brutal, but it also propelled some things fwd. One of the problems with Light and Jean is that we don't even have the 'vicious remix' persona thing going on with them. They acted the same way when they were alive. Just don't bring them back again for a while. A long while. I remember how other writers tried to 'build' on Miller's DKR future, and IMO it derailed Batman for a long time. Let ID stand. Let Jean and Light lie.
