I can see it now - Dancing with the Trekkies. In fact, I've been waiting to see come Trek actors/actresses on Dancing with the Stars. I think they'd get a big audience if Jolene Blalock did the show in those little outfits...

Yes yes a thousand times YES. The more epic wonder that JJ can rip off from The Final Frontier (aka the best movie EVER) the better.

Oh absolutely. If JJ has any respect for canon, like, at all, he'll have Uhura dancing, but this time without the fan thingies, but with lens flare to cover the improper places instead.

I'm all for this relation to have more depth but I don't think going all out hippies will do that. The scenes you describe from TOS reflect the 60's when the show originally aired, but that's not actual.

In terms of music in trek in general I was always pissed to see only classical music (and jazz for Riker) survived the test of time. I find it completely unrealistic.

I wasn't thinking of them jaming like space hippies. Something they simply do in the privacy of their quarters. Unless they need to have Uhura go undercover as a a dancer or something. That might work as well. Find a way to incorporate it in a mission. Uhura ends up having to kick some villians ass while wearing a bikini in one scene! You know, basically a "Alias" type of situation.

You know what, I really, really hope they would consider shooting some extra footage of Spock/Uhura specifically for DVD extras in the next film. Then the sky's the limit as to what they could do cause they wouldn't have to worry about fitting it in the story, really.

But anyway, I would like to see some sort of spirtual/meditative... slightly sensual? Vulcan firebonding ritual-some type of attunement. It could be beautiful, though. I don't see dancing or much music, but I do see deep concentration. I imagine Spock would lead it.-Maybe a Vulcan elder, but then it would be less intimate

And Maybe they could have just pure intensity and hawtness in another xtra scene.

I like the idea and I figured out how to even work in my idea of having Spock play a guitar. Even though it would be comedy scene were we see Spock play the guitar badly he tells Uhura that he is actually good with a Vulcan Lyre but Vulcan Lyre's were made out of wood you can only find on Vulcan. This means he will proably never be able to get one himself since the one he had as a child was in his old house on Vulcan. SOmehow at the end Uhura is able to find one and give it to him as a gift. Spock plays it and where the first scene is a chance to do comedy this would actually be a chance to do something kind of sweet and also have Spock play something kind of exotic and alien where as his atempt to do the guitar would be something contemporary we are familiar with.

If they come up with a new song though it won't be as fun. It would like having young Kirk listening to some generic rock song during the car chase. All I ask is that they pick a good song. Sabotage by the Beasties Boys is a good song. I'm not so sure if it will stand the test of time but as long as it doesn't suck I can go with it. In otherwords the song doesn't have to be a classic but it can't be some crappy tenny bopper song that you might hear at the end of a "Smallville" episode.

No. It's cheesy, and there isn't the luxury of adding extraneous entertainment in a movie that there is in a weekly TV show. A reference to it might be ok, but unless it has some bearing on the overall plot, it would drag a movie down.

Chessy isn't a bad thing when it comes to Trek humor. I think it would be important to the plot,if they are going to go with a Spock/Uhura romance. Right now there is nothing really intresting between them. They need to show us why they are into each other and the best way to do that IMo is show us they have common intrests. What better way than to use something that has already sort of being established in TOS and that is love of music. Plus I just like the idea of Vulcan being more "human" for love as oposed to doing what they did with Spock's mom and have her basically trying to become more Vulcan for Sarek. If Spock loves Uhura then it makes since he would let down his Vulcan stoicism for Uhura,at least in private.

I had that same idea! I supose this would be a flashback and I know Abrams doesn't like those but this could show us how Spock and Uhura first meet. Maybe it's some kind of retro-party going on. Everyone is dressed up like 20th century humans, which in itself might lend to more humor by seeing various aliens dressed like Gen-X slackers or as football players. If Spock is in costume they could dress him to look like he did in "City on the Edge of Forever." as another nod and joke to the audience.
